In the crucible the characters are all scared of the devil, this isn't new information but its key. This information is key because since they are all so afraid of the devil they seem to believe anything and any one. The whole turns turn into anarchy once a rumor is spread about witchcraft, so then every starts accusing everyone because they are so scared. I feel that a great comparison to this fear is that of the clowns. You might be wondering what i mean buy clowns but everyone should remember that period of time where people dressed like clowns and acted like crazy people just to get a little scared out of someone. I believe that these two scenarios are similar because like the characters in the crucible we had a previous fear, by this I mean that people already were scared of clowns just like the characters were already afraid of witches. The characters in the play are either portrayed as good or evil with no in between , which makes life even harder for them . Salem mislabeled people in town as good or evil , but they had very little or no evidence at all to support it . Salem labels Rebecca nurse as a witch and evil , when really she was innocent and took care of everyone's babies. Abigail was an evil character who was a liar, vindictive and careless , the people of Salem viewed her as good character .
People often get stumped on whether or not they truly love their significant other. They often wonder if they’re with the right person. Sometimes it’ll take some kind of a push to actually feel love between you and your significant other. In the play, different people have different opinions about Elizabeth and John’s love life. I believe that they genuinely did love each other. Even though Elizabeth mentioned that there wasn’t true happiness in the household, the audience could tell that they legitimately did care about each other. The definition of fear is when someone feels scared or threatened or feels like they’re in danger. The two main characters are Abigail Williams played by Winona Ryder and John Procter played by Daniel Day-Lewis. The Crucible’s opening scene is Reverend Parris catching Abigail and her friends dancing in the woods and conjuring spirits. Abigail did not want to get in trouble so she blamed Tituba, a Barbados slave, for making her drink chicken blood, and tempting her to sin.
9/11 is a horrific moment in history, and is well recognized for it’s spawn of mass hysteria in America. Because of this, The Crucible and 9/11 are highly similar in that both situations caused people to become so fearful and paranoid to the point where they began to treat others unfairly, and become more vulnerable/gullible to people’s selfish schemes. In the Crucible, the people of Salem wished for there to be safety in their town and in their religion. However the fear of witchcraft interfered with that, causing a mass hysteria to flood throughout the town. They began to point fingers. It also caused them to be vulnerable. hence becoming more gullible. These same situations happened to America after 9/11 occurred.

These people were charged with the crime of practicing witchcraft. Reverend Hale is a very intellectual man whose morals were persuaded by fear and the church. Hale’s morals changed in the play in three ways, at the beginning he was a witch craft expert who believed in the practice, then he started to doubt the validity of the charges, and by the end of the play, he was a disbeliever of the charges presented to the court.
