Climate Of Doubt: The Global Warming Debate

After viewing Climate of Doubt, it’s quite clear that the debate of climate change has quite the history. Dating back to 2007, there have been global warming advocates. The issue, however, arises from the opposing groups. On the side of global warming advocates, they are often depicted as “tree-hugging liberals.” On the other side, you have those depicted as “heartless science denying conservatives.” It’s within these opposing sides where you see the reason for a contentious debate. Each of the sides are constantly trying to poke holes in science and deny blatant truth. For example, the documentary highlights the “climategate.” It is explained that climategate was an email controversy where emails were taken out of context to combat climate

change advocates. Even though no substantial evidence in the tampering of data arose, the scandal was inflated. Regardless, at its foundation, many people are concerned about the healthiness and longevity of the earth, while others are concerned about more money being taken from their pockets.
I would strongly advise the next president to unify the people and be open to compromise. Even if the president isn’t big on the topic of global warming, it’s important to realize the true support the topic has. Secondly, the president must be open to accepting new scientific research. If climate change theory is developed and withstands substantial testing, it’s important for the president to recognize the issue and push policy to help fix it. However, if the president is successful in unifying, it’s more likely that the people will have similar concerns, making it easier to get things done.
