Climate change refers to the long term change in weather patterns. The changes in weather patterns could last from a period of a few decades to millenniums (Field). The average weather conditions may be altered as a sign of climate change. The variations in terms of weather conditions and time may also result into an increase in the number of extreme weather conditions, while also reducing the number of favorable weather seasons. Climate change is caused by a myriad of factors. Among them includes plate tectonics, biotic processes, volcanic eruptions and the variations of radiation that reaches earth (Bulkeley et al.). There have also been reported cases of human contribution to the rate and condition of global warming as it is seen to take place today. Pollution activities have been majorly noted as the primary causes of global warming. California is among the states that are on the lead in the fight against climate change. The reduction of the global footprint has proven to be a key issue for California hence the enactment of policies that seek to reduce the damages caused by industries and individual households. One such move includes the Clean Energy and Pollution Reduction Act of 2015 by California, which seeks to increase the sale of renewable electricity by up to 50% before 2030. Additionally, the Act seeks to increase the levels of energy savings of electricity and the natural gas by the same target year (Bulkeley et al.).
