Classification Essay: Types of Sports Fans In the world there are many different classifications a person could give to sports fans. Some examples are the Gamblers, the Jumping on the Bandwagons or the Coaches. The 3 most important ones are the “Everything I own must be related to my favorite team in some way”, the Uncle Rio wanna-bes, and the PSB fans. Especially in America there are many different levels of sports fan but these are the most important. One type of sports fan is the “everything I own must have something to do with my favorite team” fans. Something to expect from these people, as stated in the name, is that everything they own must be involved with their team and this includes their clothing. They might have a coat, a pair of socks, or sweatpants but they should be taken as serious fans if they wear at least 3 pieces of sport clothing everyday! Along with their clothing their houses and cars will be decked out in logos, or colors. For example, for a 49ers fan, the car would be red and the seats covered with logo stitched covers and so on. All they like to do it watch a sport, and put bets on the games to hopefully win money. They have a tendency to not exactly pay attention to the game. They will look up for a couple minutes that look back down to their phones to try and see who else or what other teams they can try and make a couple bucks on. They usually don’t have a favorite team because they don’t actually watch the sport that often. A plus side to these particular fans is they know a lot about the sport in general, the players new and old, game history and who the right team to bet is. They are the type of people who would win a million dollars on a game show because the last question is about sports. They use sports as more of a betting hobby then having the joy and excitement of watching the actual
