Lots of classical period inventions are used today. Examples are columns in the Jefferson Memorial and in the Supreme Court. Common innovations we use like transportation towns and on the highways. Finally the form of government we use today was inspired by the classical period. Three inventions from the Classical Period that still influence our world today are artitecture, transportation, and form of government. One invention that we still use today is architecture an example is colums. The ancient Greeks are famous for making three types of columns: doric, ionic, and corinthian (Doc. 1). These are known by the top design of the column. The columns are used for structure. They hold up the front of the building. In washington D.C the Supreme
court the columns are Corinthian columns. In the Lincoln memorial they have Ionic columns. Finally the Jefferson memorial has doric columns (Doc. 1). This is one of the ancient inventions still used today. Another example of a roman invention is transportation. Road systems are used over a billion times a day. Do you ever imagine who thought of this amazing idea? Romans used roads to transport military and trade goods (Doc. 3). There were around 85,000km of roads (Doc. 3). They all connected to Rome. They linked far away provinces. For instance, the highways we use all are based on the roman roads. That is another Roman invention used today. Finally the people of athens created a government. Their form of government was a direct democracy(Doc.2). The people of Athens all took part in the government (Doc.2). Then they all voted for something whatever the voting was about. We now have changed it, and today in the United States, we have a representative democracy. This is very helpful because now we have multiple people vote for a leader for your state and then for your nation. That is one of the most important invention of the ancient Romans that changed our lives today. To sum up architecture, roads, and forms of government are all three inventions from the Classical Period used today.

The Medieval West was an era of country folk and rural communities. During this era, agriculture was a means of survival and people lived in rural communities known as villages (Duby 167). In his article, Rural Economy and Country Folk in the Medieval West, Georges Duby recounts the daily lives of those who lived in the Medieval West during this time period. Those who lived in this time did not live an easy life. There existed many struggles within the communities. Many complications arose that were not present in say, the Roman Empire. According to Paul Veyne’s, Pleasures and Excesses in the Roman Empire, the Medieval West palled in comparison. In my own humble opinion, I would choose to live in Veyne’s description of the Roman empire as opposed

So many of the great ideas and inventions of the Technological Revolution are still apart of our lives today. Most of the things we are accustomed to are credited to this time period. Only a few major innovations occurred in the post-war era, such as: computers, semiconductors, the Internet, and jet engines. Even these ideas have been impacted by the thoughts of the Second Industrial Revolution. The world would not be nearly as advanced if it was not for the people in this time period.
