The very inspiring woman, that will be our keynote speaker today, once said “In the end anti-black, anti-female, and all forms of discrimination are equivalent to the same thing: anti-humanism” that is from the book “Unsought and Unbossed” by the one and only Shirley Chisholm. If you haven’t heard that name before you probably don’t know a lot about the black political world. She is most known for becoming the first African American congress women in 1968. Parents of the nine African American students contacted Daisy Bates who was the local leader of the NAACP, owned, and ran the State Press one of the town’s newspapers. The parents were scared of violence and asked her for advice on what to do. The parents were not scared for violence towards them but against their children attending the school. According to Bates, D. (1987), the mother of Elizabeth Echford remembered when she was a child in 1927 that she and a friend walked up on a crowd on the street who had beaten a young black boy then dragged him through the streets and set him on fire. As horrifying as that was, Mrs. Bates assured her that the town of Little Rock was different now and that the National Guard would protect the children.

I am writing this letter to urge you to support the research efforts on Karenia Brevis, or Red Tide. A natural phenomenon I am sure you are aware of. Karenia Brevis is an extremely invasive species that creates a state of turmoil for the Gulf of Mexico’s ecosystem. This harmful algal bloom is not only responsible for the destruction to marine species, but is harmful to human health. Red Tide is also responsible for the loss of millions of dollars in profit and revenue for coastal industries and towns. There are ongoing research experiments testing ways to control Red tide before it can cause its damage, but support and funding is desperately needed.
“Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is a type of PUFA that is found naturally in milk and meat products, primarily from ruminants such as cows or sheep. As I’ve explained before, CLA exhibits potent antioxidant activity, and research indicates that CLA might be protective against heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Beef is one of the best dietary sources of CLA, and grass-fed beef contains an average of 2 to 3 times more CLA than grain-fed beef. (6)This is because grain-based diets reduce the pH of the digestive system in ruminant animals, which inhibits the growth of the bacterium that produces CLA. It’s interesting to note
Alicia Garza is a modern day Black History hero in the making. Alicia is the cofounder of the world renowned movement called #BlackLivesMatter. This movement all started with a hash tag on a social media post that Alicia had posted herself after the verdict of the Treyvon Martin case. This movement has inspired thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people across the world to stand up for black lives and rights for minorities in general. This movement does not single out just black lives but it includes all people of color and sexual orientation. Alicia is an inspiration to me because she has given birth to a greater voice. This voice is not just one person but many at one time. This voice fights for equality for people of color no matter
I will be advancing an argument on the early representations of Sarah Baartman in comparison to her representation in our modern society, beginning in the course of the early eighteenth century. In my research, I will use Sarah Baartman as a means of showing how medical and scientific discourses work to construct images of sexual and racial differences. After her death in in 1815, her body was given to the comparative anatomist, Georges Cuvier, who dissected and preserved the body as an object of scientific research. The question of how Sarah Baartman was both raw material and a product of scientific racism forms the focus of this research task.
The two girls are the best of friends but they are very different, even in the views on how they clean. Sandra is very neat and tidy. Everything must be in its place at all times. Nancy on the other hand is extremely messy. Wherever things happen to land is where they should belong. Sandra cleans her room at least once a day. While Nancy's room is lucky to be cleaned once a month. When Sandra cleans, it is a lengthy procedure. Sometimes she will spend hours just cleaning her room. When Nancy cleans, it is done as quickly as humanly possible. If she can get everything shoved under her bed in five minutes then she is happy. The thought of even sleeping in a messy room makes Sandra extremely uncomfortable. Though Nancy can't stand to be in a spotless room, with out the urge to mess something up.
