A historian is a person that researches, studies and writes about the past, and is regarded as an authority on it. Historian is concerned with the continuous, methodical narrative and research of past events relating to the human race; as well as the study of all history in time. When people need detailed nuanced information about the past, they go to historians for the facts. These individuals write history books about all kinds of different topics, times, people, and places. From ancient history, to a specific decade, to a specific historical event, historians will study and fact-find in order to share with the public. In America, we live in a democracy’s where we vote for who we want as a leader of nation. The voting doesn’t stop there, we also vote for judges, mayors, and even governors. Our civic duty goes beyond just the involvement in our government duties, it goes to our church duties, our community duties as far as volunteer work jury duty and etc. the importance of civic responsibility is paramount to the success of democracy philanthropy. By engaging in civic responsibility citizen ensure and uphold certain democratic values written in the nation’s founding documents. If our nation individually didn’t uphold their civic responsibility, we would crumble from the inside out. We vote our leaders, we vote on how taxes should be spent and we vote on a lot of other things that are crucial to the survival of America. In the past, voting rights where only give to the rich and the land owner, then it was only admitted to men even if he didn’t own land. In present time, all people of the age 18 and older hold voting rights. None of these big changes would have happened if voting wasn’t important. All of these things were done to get more people to vote. It is good to have a high rate of voting, this means that people are doing their part to keep the democracy alive. Without the votes the democracy would expire. It could turn into a country run by the people in the white house, senate, and special interest’s groups. That wouldn’t make anyone happy, not to mention that this would turn from a democracy into a dictatorship. Votes give the people to express how the feel about the government and how well of a job they are doing. The power lies in our hands with our ability to vote and we need to take more advantage of that. Many people complain about how we don’t like the government but we don’t go out and vote to try to change what we don’t like.
