Based on the results of the first test my leadership style is: Transformational. My score was a 61 out of a possible 80. The transformational leadership is composed of four categories: idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individual consideration. The idealized influence component is used to describe leaders who are exceptional role models to other members in their teams. I strongly believe that having the practical skills necessary for a career in nursing, or in preparation of a project or assignment are key for accomplishing tasks at hand. In mastering the skills that are used in the workforce, you are better able to help the organization or team as a whole. As someone who wishes to pursue a career in nursing, having the necessary traits and skills are crucial especially for patient satisfaction. I am someone who is most definitely able to connect with someone on an emotional level, however I think knowing and mastering the necessary skills to care for that patient and whatever situation they may be going through are is just as important, and would be valuable for the employer as well. In addition to your employer utilizing this theory would allow you to better educate your fellow co-workers, and assist them in preparing potential patients who may require certain skills sets for …show more content…

I believe that these traits are very important to have because as a future nurse it's important to be resourceful for those who need the extra push when working to accomplish their goals. There are several people who have the potential to begin working towards their goals, but sometimes they lack the motivation, or even the belief that they are able to achieve them. I not only feel that I can be of guidance, but I could also help them see what type of leadership styles they have within themselves. Perhaps they have certain styles, but need someone to make them realize that. After completing this survey, I myself had no realization that I exhibited certain leadership qualities that were vastly different from other ones that are also present. I was also able to see that I needed to work on specific areas of leadership such as learning to delegate and maintain some sense of control when working with others. At times I tend to take on too many responsibilities, even though the more practical thing to do, would be to take control and delegate my responsibilities to others. Now that I understand what my strengths and weaknesses are I can better integrate these qualities on the floor once I become a
