Cinderella As An Allegory Analysis

An allegory is a story, picture, or poem that can be construed to express a hidden meaning. Cinderella is a story about a girl who was forced into a life of cruelness and hardship. She is a kind a gentle soul who cares for everyone she comes across. This movie can be seen as an allegory for many different reasons. First of all, Cinderella’s parents represent Adam and Eve and the fall of man. When they died, the same way Adam and Eve died spiritually, Ella was forced into an awful life. Ella’s stepmother locks her out of her own family home the same way Adam and Eve were locked out of heaven. Also, the stag that Ella encounters in the woods represents Christ and Ella also comes across the Prince who, too, represents Jesus Christ. He brought her into his kingdom the way Jesus brought us into his kingdom, the Kingdom of Heaven. Ella shows kindness to her tyrannical stepmother the same way Jesus taught us to be kind to all life. Cinderella is a wonderful allegory for the Catholic Church’s beliefs. Ella is also a symbol of humanity. Humanity is good and pure, as she is. She realized how cruel the world was in an abrupt way. She suffered at the hands of her evil stepmother for a long time. Even those who cause chaos and destruction in our world usually feel like they are doing the right

thing for the sake of others, though they might be very wrong. Ella realizes that there are people in the world who cannot see things the way she does with her kind heart. Humans, though sometimes morally confused, are always good at heart. God has given all life the gift of that goodness and mercy. It sometimes takes a bit more effort to get that good side out of some people. Ella represents all the goodness God put in our hearts and souls when he created us.
When some people in this world are presented with a bad situation, they sometimes do not come out of it as kind as Ella did. Her stepmother, for example, is a good symbol of someone who makes evil choices based on past events that have affected her. She chose to make Ella’s life miserable because that is what her life has been like so far. She lost her husband and was required to raise her two daughters alone. She never treated anyone with respect or dignity unless it benefitted herself. She chose to make others around her that have more than her feel like less because it made her feel powerful. Though it made her feel better about herself, in retrospect it only made her more cowardly. She never made others feel better because she doesn’t feel good about herself.
This movie shows the audience that being kind , especially to your enemies, it the right way to go. It really inspires people to be the best person they can be. It also conveys how hard it really can be to be generous to those who were not very kind to us. At the end of the movie, Ella tells her stepmother that she forgives her in a genuine way. She does not say it viscously or rudely. Forgiving her is the best way to get back at her stepmother without having a guilty conscience. Ella is the kind of good-hearted person we all should aspire to be. She sets an example for everyone to be as kind as you can be.
I, personally, enjoyed this movie very much.

It has shown me that I need to learn to forgive people faster. I have to be able to forgive what some people have done to me. By forgiving them, I will have a more peaceful life not being hung up on whoever has wronged me. I truly hope that others who have watched this movie are also inspired to be a better person. It really sends a great message, especially to little kids, about what life is really about and how we should live it. Showing others your kindness is also a great way to receive kindness back. Others will see how nice you are and be nice back. I have taken a great message from this movie, and I intend to remember it for a long

time.
