At first, I had a hard time decided on where in Los Angeles to go and observe for this assignment. There were a lot of great choices because Los Angeles is very diverse city. As the due date of this paper was getting closer, I got an invite from one of my friends to the Cinco De Mayo party that is being thrown by his parents. At first, I was hesitant to say yes, but then I thought about how this would be a great opportunity for my assignment. So I said yes to my friend’s invitation. I’ve never been to a Cinco De Mayo party before so I didn’t know what to expect or what the dress code is. Cinco de Mayo basically means what it says, the fifth of May. The last time I went to the park, the air was refreshing and fresh. Several children were making use of the toys and equipment that was available to them at the park. One child was swinging while two others spun around on an old merry-go-round. There were only a few people present at the park that day. When we arrived at the park on Cinco de Mayo, it was the opposite of what I expected or I’ve experienced about parks in the past. For starters, the park was packed with people. I’ve never seen a park so busy. During this said day, the park was a place for the Hispanic people use to escape the constraints of the world. Compared to the time I went to a park; the air was filled with smoke from both the grill and the cigarette people were smoking. The air wasn’t fresh nor refreshing because of all the pollution due to the people that occupied the park. There were a lot of kids running around and playing with the things that was at the park. Compared to the time I went to the park where there were about 3 kids at the park, there were more than 15 kids playing with each other on Cinco de Mayo.
About half the people at the park were Consanguineal Kin. Consanguineal Kinship is defined as individuals that are related by blood; this would be my friend’s immediate family, his uncles and aunts, or as they called them, Tio and Tia, grandparents and many more that are blood
