The Chronicle of a Death announced was a fiction novel written by Gabriel García Márquez during the Boom era of the sixties and seventies. The Boom was caused by the Cuban revolution when writers in exile communicated with each other. This helped Latin American literature spread rapidly throughout the world and made Latin American literature known throughout the world. Throughout history, Gabriel used more common techniques such as symbolism, omen, alliteration, hyperbole, images and different points of view to capture the reader's attention. In the story, Ángela's mother, Purísima del Carmen, had to resign as a teacher after getting married. This event demonstrated the patriarchal structure of society. Adult males had the privilege of controlling women and children. Purisima had to abandon her career to take care of her family. Michelle Zimbalist Rosaldo, a professor at Stanford University, wrote an article entitled: Women, culture and society: a theoretical vision. In her article, she mentioned: "[The woman] has to take care of the children, feed and clean them, perform the unpleasant tasks, it is much more difficult for them to manipulate or control their public image, their image, their familiarity can lead to contempt , which will harm them. " The society suggested that women were weaker than men. They were the ones who were supposed to do domestic work. Therefore, the women had to stay at home and obey their husband.
