Christopher Marlowe
Marlowe is an English poet and dramatist from the Renaissance era. He began his life working for his father as a shoemaker, then found his calling as a playwright and a poet. His work includes the plays Tamburlaine the Great in two parts 1587-88, The Jew of Malta about 1591, Edward II about 1592 and Dr Faustus about 1594, the poem Hero and Leander 1598, and a translation of parts of Ovid'sAmores. Marlowe transformed a new sense of power through his work. Witnesses have written about their relation to the plays of Christopher Marlowe. He brought the aforementioned plays to life.
He was born in Canterbury and got a degree from Cambridge University, where he is thought to have become a government agent. His life was turbulent, with a brief imprisonment in connection with a man's death in a brawl (of which he was cleared), and a charge of atheism (following statements by the dramatist Thomas Kyd under torture). Toronto, Canada's largest city, occupies the site of an old French trading post, Fort Rouillé founded in the 1790s. The city was founded as a British Army garrison town, Fort York, on the shores of Lake Ontario in 1793. It succeeded Niagara-on-the-Lake as capital of Upper Canada in 1797. Chartered as a city in 1834, its name was then changed to Toronto. Toronto served as the country's capital from 1849 to 1851, and from 1855 to 1859.
Thomas Merton was born in Prades, France in 1915 to a family of artists from New Zealand and the United States. By the early age of 16, Merton was orphaned after prolonged bouts with poor health claimed the lives of each of his parents. As a student at Cambridge, Merton overlooked his studies and led a life of relative moral degradation. After he impregnated a young woman, he was ordered to return to the United States (where he had lived briefly in his youth). Vancouver was initially founded as a fort in the summer and fall of 1827[2.3]. Hudson’s Bay Company built Fort Langley as a trading post on the south side of the Fraser River. The fort was subsequently moved upstream to be closer to its farms in 1839[2.3&6]. The fort was built along the river because the river was an important trade route for both the fort and the natives to the area[1]. This fort, while trading large quantities of merchandise with the local natives, only truly controlled what was within its walls and had very little effect on the native control of the area[2.3].
In Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness, Marlow can be seen as the hero of the story despite his alternating morals and the fact that Marlow ultimately does nothing to improve the situation in Africa. Throughout the whole narrative Marlow finds himself thrust into many shocking situations yet chooses the path of an observant bystander, giving his own opinion at the time, but no lasting action or motivation is conceived. On top of this fact Marlow’s morals are anything but set in stone; they waver innumerable times over the course of the plot. Yet Marlow is more often than not seen as the prominent hero of the plot. How is this possible? This is because readers aren’t looking for perfection in a character, but depth, and Marlow achieves this level of depth through his epiphanies and the changes that take place in his perception of the world. These revelations in turn challenge the reader to reevaluate themselves.

About 75 percent of the 68 million women working in the United States will become pregnant at some point in their careers. Women with children are one of the fastest growing segments of the U.S. labor force. In 1975, 47% of women with children under the age of 18 were employed; by 2008, this number grew to a notable 71% (Miner et al. 60). Compared to other workers, mothers are often viewed as less competent, less productive, and less committed to their job, which is assumed to result in increased absenteeism and resignation (Byron and Roscigno 5). Also, employers may doubt a mother’s ability to balance their work and home lives (Nunenmacher and Schnepf 172). A study conducted by Shelley Correll, Stephen Benard, and In Paik found that mothers were 79% less likely to be hired, 50% less likely to be promoted, and offered $11,000 less in salary than identical women without children. In the study, the subjects revealed that they assumed the mothers to be inherently less competent and less committed (Williams and Cuddy 96). Given these statistics, discrimination against mothers is one of the strongest forms of gender bias.

(2015) highlighted that highly qualified women are seen “just as competent as men” however; these women are still unlikely to be hired over their less qualified male counterparts. Laws prohibit prospective employers from asking women about family responsibilities outright, nevertheless this subject often surfaces during the interview process. The main character in Conrad's novel, Heart of Darkness, isKurtz. Kurtz no longer obeys the authority of his superiors who believe that he has become too extreme and has come to employ "unsound methods" (Coppola, 1979; Longman, 2000).
