Christmas is the most popular holiday in all of the land. Mostly everyone loves Christmas. There are three categories of Christmas people. Number one; the haters. They despise Christmas and think it is the devil and nothing good comes from lying to children and giving gifts for absolutely no reason at all. Number two; the average person. The ones who just buy the gifts, wear the holiday sweaters, and go to the annual Christmas gathering at Grandma’s where gifts and laughs are exchanged. Number three; the die hard Santa’s of the group. The few mothers or fathers who decorate the day after Halloween to get into the Christmas spirit. The tree is up on November first and the Christmas lights are hung all year round. They make sure to go black friday shopping to get everyone a gift, even cousin Nicholas, who is three times removed. They would go out in the snow and make fake snowmen and try to get them to look like themselves and then take pictures with them. Year after year passed, and eventually they stopped having family Christmas parties. His mother and father had melted away and so had his aunt and uncles. Mr. Evergreen had gotten married and had twin snowboys. They were his pride and joy. The boys work with Henry on the tree farm that had been passed on for generations. Henry loved the feeling of teaching his boys hard work and also having fun doing it. It was Christmas Eve, 2003, when a terrible storm hit. In the awful storm, his wife and two boys had been caught outside and had been blown away in the snowstorm and were found dead, plastered against a barn five miles away. Henry was heartbroken. He asked why and why not him instead of his beautiful wife and kids. He blamed it on Christmas. Every year after that, he despised Christmas because he would have to spend the day all alone and think about what had happened on that cold, windy day in
Christmas Eve was a special time for Momma and Poppa. Even though there never was enough money to go down to the neighborhood stores to buy presents, Momma and Poppa always made sure I had one present on Christmas morning. In years past I had received a doll made from worn out clothing, with a painted face and hair of yarn. A box made of wood carved by Poppa with my name encircled with a heart. One gift to a young child may not be much, but Momma and Poppa always made sure there was something under our tiny Christmas tree.

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is a classic novella that many throughout the world enjoy. It is widely known throughout the world, even the youngest of children know of its basic elements and its lasting message. Although the novella seems to coincide with current views of Christmas, it was not always the same. During Dickens’ early life, Christmas was more about partying and not about giving or helping others, especially the poor. At the time, many of the poor and working class, including children, were forced to work an obscene amount of hours with very little breaks and almost no holidays. A Christmas Carol made the world acknowledge the social injustices that were rampant during the 1800s and tried to be an advocate of change for
Christmas is almost here again, but have you ever thought how odd some of the holiday traditions are and how they became so popular? Buying a pine tree, setting it up in your house and then decorating it with festive lights and ornaments; hanging up stockings filled with candy over the fireplace; or how an old guy in a red-suit comes to your house the night before Christmas and leaves presents. This, too many Americans is normal, but why? Learning about these holiday traditions will get you into the Christmas spirit and show you what Christmas is truly about.
The day Mary gave birth to Jesus, God kept everything simplistic. Just two young parents and a couple animals celebrated the long awaited Messiah’s birth. I sometimes have trouble imagining that those humble beginnings have turned into the most commercialized Holiday in the world. For the first few hundred years after Jesus died no one ever celebrated Christmas. When people first observed Christmas, it quickly became mixed with pagan celebrations that had to do with the winter solstice. Now so many traditions have been intertwined into Christmas that many people do not even recognize the true purpose of it, or they ignore it. If we simplified Christmas until it was similar to the early celebrations, I think more people would see the true

In "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, Ebenezer Scrooge undergoes a transformation as a result of his encounters with three ghosts and becomes a kind, happy, and generous man. His greedy, cruel, and grumpy demeanor is replaced seemingly overnight, but he doesn’t just wake up and decide to be nice. It takes three Spirits to change his outlook on life - The Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present, and Future. The Ghost of Christmas Past makes Scrooge begin to regret his selfishness, and the Ghost of Christmas Present begins to teach him about others. This second Ghost helps to make him realize that money doesn't buy happiness. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, however, teaches the most profound lesson of all: unless he changes, no one will care if Scrooge dies. Because of the Ghosts, by Christmas morning Ebenezer Scrooge is a completely different person from the man who went to bed on Christmas Eve.
It was three weeks before Christmas when my little sister Emily barged into my room. I was busy preparing gifts for the holidays and also was listening to music. I took an earbud out to listen to what she had to say, but I still was not facing her. She then asked if Santa was real. In my busy state of mind, I nonchalantly said yes and urged her out of my room so I could finish what I was doing. At the time, I did not think much about my response.

I would be lying if I said that Christmas was my favorite time of year. In fact, these words have never been articulated by my tongue as it brushes past the soft palate of my mouth, producing speech. Agonizing or distressing would better describe it. Though, these banal adjectives could not begin to reach the dark depths where my illness held my shackled being in a dirty, steel cage. On Christmas day, only eight years old, I received a harrowing diagnosis; I was sick with both an autoimmune condition and a rare blood disorder.
