Christians Should Lead Active Lives An active Christian life is where somebody spreads the word of God by helping others. Their life is not completely devoted to God but they always make time for God, through prayer. Christians who lead an active life may argue that it is better than a contemplative lifestyle because it is the most effective way of spreading the word of God. They believe actions speak louder than words, so physically helping the community is better than just praying. The parable of the sheep and goats applies to Christians who lead active lives. In the parable it says God divides the sheep and the goats, the righteous and unrighteous. God gives eternal life to the sheep because they have fed the hungry, clothed the naked and given drink to the thirsty. However the goats that have not done any of theses things are sent to hell. Active Christians believe they are helping others much like the sheep in the parable and in doing so will receive eternal life in heaven. This parable on the other hand can apply to Christians who lead contemplative lives. They may believe by giving up their possessions and by living a humble lifestyle they are acting as the 'sheep' also and they will receive eternal life in heaven for their actions. Active Christians might argue that an active lifestyle is better than a contemplative lifestyle because if Jesus had lead a contemplative life we would never have heard of him or of the things that he did today. Jesus helped many people during his life, and active Christians try to follow in Jesus footsteps by helping others in their community, Christians who lead contemplative lives would disagree with the statement 'Christians should lead active rather than contemplative lives' for several reasons. Firstly they may believe that leading an active life where you help others can lead you to be big headed about what you have done or lead you to judge others. They might argue that a contemplative lifestyle is better because you can concentrate all of

This would lead to much more important things, such as the fact that the Crusades would have not been fought over the Holy Land of Canaan (Israel). Also, the Roman Empire would have been drastically different, as there would never have been the Holy Roman Empire, or even any Popes or Patriarchs to help control Rome. Also, many persecutions of many different Christian denominations would never happen, so the Puritans would not have been persecuted, which would mean that nobody would have come to Plymouth Rock in the year of 1620. The Islamic religion would have also never happened, which would lead to no Muslim Empire, and more than three fourths of the world’s population would be Jewish.

Every individual is called of God to respond through service in the world. The Effect of Teaching About Discipleship on Christians Today The teaching of discipleship affects the life of a modern day Christian in many different ways. The teaching of Christian belief, practice, authority, organization and sacrifice affects how a modern day Christian lives his life. Christian belief affects how a modern day Christian lives his life because he must consider how he can show as much belief as the original twelve disciples showed in Jesus and what he did. Belief is shown many times in Mark's gospel.
