Christianity Should Not Be Taught In Schools Essay

Christianity is a religion that many people are a part of, including myself, but there is a few peers at our school who use it as an excuse to condescend, harass, and discriminate. These people give many a negative view of what Christianity is and give some the belief that all Christians act in a similar way. I think that if we could educate some of those guilty of this issue we could stop it all together. This issue needs to be changed because if we do not try to stop it, our school is at risk of being shrouded with a cloud of discrimination.

The most common issue I see around school is discrimination towards someone with different religious beliefs. If someone is not Christian at East and is public about their religious beliefs, they will more likely than not have some form of bullying thrown their way at one point or another. There are some who aren’t very bad about this and may not even be doing it on purpose but there is definitely those few who known what they are doing. It is really easy to be guilty of this and I’m sure many have done it before without realizing and I’ve probably even been guilty of it at one point or another. There is also a harsher group of people who will make fun of things like sexualiy. Luckily I haven’t seen much of this at our school but I known it is there. As a Christian myself it makes me angry when I see so many other Christians put a bad name to our religion. Christianity is a very accepting religion if you compare it to others like Islam and when these people make it seem like a hateful, unaccepting religion, it's severely misrepresenting Christianity.
