It was great reading this week’s thread post. Interestingly, we covered the same questions. You were successful in articulating your points and providing definitions to the questions being asked. Your Christian worldview was quite interesting. I do agree that the bible is instrumental in every part of our lives, and in the decisions, we make as brothers and sisters in Christ and as business leaders. I agree there is a cost to operate a business, and I also agree that the Lord wants us to be loving and charitable.
However, Jesus tells us in Scripture “The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’ His master replied, ‘Well
done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” (Mathew 25:20-21, New International Version). These versus tell us about God’s expectation of us and our role to honor Him. Running a successful business is no sin, as Scripture just shared, God wants us to be good stewards over what He has given us. However, dishonest intentions, greed, and unethical businesses decisions to overcharge consumers or to set them up for financial ruin are against Christians principles. The Lords wants us to be financially responsible in our choices followed by our actions that are not self-serving. Furthermore, I agree that midweek airline prices are not an example of third-degree price discrimination. While third-degree is legal, it does become illegal if pricing is based on religion, race, or gender. Research supports that customers regardless of how reasonable pricing differs for a specific group like for AARP, they do not agree with paying more for the same product (Okada, 2014).
Lu 9:14 For there were about five thousand men. Then He said to His disciples, "Make them sit down in groups of fifty." 15 And they did so, and made them all sit down. Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude.
In this teaching, Jesus is telling us that the treasures on earth is not the same as the treasures in heaven. We should be saying don’t waste your time on the so call riches of the earth that does not provide anything that will be useful when we leave this place. God says that if your treasures are stored on earth they can be broken and stolen from thieves. However, we must also allow ourselves to be humbled, teach and help others and ourselves on the path to
As a christian, I have never considered that my personal beliefs would ever conflict with being in business. Right now I feel kind of torn because I believe in many of Francis’s valid points but I feel disagree with some of his accusations. I do firmly believe that capitalism and and christian values can coexist if it is done correctly. In fact, I firmly believe that having christian values will make capitalism more effective for more
In the end this entire book was very informative and was quite enjoyable to read. What it really comes down to in the end is that any aspect of business can be used to glorify God, but that we must be careful not to fall into the temptations that come along with it. If we stay steadfast in our faith to God and surround ourselves with Godly examples it will help us to maintain our eyes on God and realize he is the reason we are in business in the first place. If we keep that in mind then God will bless our business and it will be profitable and successful
After an encounter with a rich man who was not willing to give out his possession, Jesus stated, “How hard it will be for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:23-25).
The Christian worldview is centered on the Gospel and places their beliefs in the essential teachings of the Trinity, the deity of Jesus Christ, and Jesus’ resurrection from the dead (DiVincenzo, 2015). This paper will explain who God is and what he created, what our purpose and nature is as humans, who Jesus was and what he did while on earth, how God plans to bring his people back into the right relationship with himself, and as a Christian how one is to live their life with an analysis of the Christian worldview.
Everyone has a worldview and a way they see life. Christian teachers should be willing to use their own biblical worldview to help the students in class develop a strong set of beliefs by integrating biblical truths into their lessons daily and encouraging their students to apply what they learn in class to not only their biblical worldview, but to their life.
There are many aspects of the Christian worldview that determines one’s faith. It all begins with God and what he did and why he so great. Then how humanity was shape with its issues and main purpose. The way we see Jesus and what has he done to be apart of are faith and what as humans have found for a restoration. Through analysis the Christian faith and how each of these tie in together. While reflecting on my faith and if lives to the standards of a Christian worldview. Through explaining my understanding of the four aspects of a Christian worldview I will analysis and compare it to my faith.
I began this course thinking my worldview was that of a Christian Theist, as I had come to discover, as the course progressed, my worldview was a mixed bag of beliefs outside the elementary belief of Christian Theism. I was not disheartened by this finding, but surprised. The realization then set in that I was uneducated or did not know God like I thought. In fact my beliefs appeared to be more influenced by society than the deity of God. Fortunately, this is a learning experience intended to bring me closer to the truths of Christianity and an understanding of the beliefs of others.
In Luke 15:1-32, Jesus uses 3 examples known as parables, to explain to the Pharisees and teachers who were judging Jesus when He was eating with sinners that when a sinner comes to Christ it is deserving of a celebration. The three parables Jesus uses are the Parable of the Lost Sheep, the Lost Coin, and the Lost Son. Jesus explains that when we lose something physical and then find it, we celebrate the return of that lost item. He explains to the Pharisees, “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them… when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home” (Luke 15:4-6). In addition to this Jesus says, “suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one...”
22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. 23 Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made. 26 The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, ‘Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ 27 Then
Our dialogue about the Bible also emphasized one of the most important insights for me, and that was understanding the concept of the Bible as revelatory. The most important idea to understanding Christianity in the world around me was another very basic idea. This idea was the concept of Tradition as a key foundation to Christianity. Together, these three insights have had great effect in shaping the way I think about Christianity.
This course has been a massive learning experience for me because I have never taken a course over a topic like this before. My previous knowledge of religion was only what I knew about my own religion, and my previous knowledge of magic and witchcraft was basically zero. My lack of background knowledge has made me really have to broaden my horizons and open my mind to what we have discussed, and I think this new found acceptance has enabled me to make the most out of this class. I found many of the topics we read about and discussed fascinating, and I am walking away with a new perspective on my own religious beliefs.
another, but our flesh pulls us in a sinful direction. Our purpose on earth is to try to love as He loved.
“He must not take many wive,s or his heart will be led astray. He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold.” ( Duet. 17:17 KJV)
