Culture is a constant influence in human life. Shaping thoughts and reinforcing beliefs, culture is powerful force that reminds Christians of their faith in God and it consequential actions. One influential part of culture is the band Hillsong United, whose songs are used for private devotion and congregational worship. The repertoire of the band Hillsong United is an example of the Christian worldview in culture.
A primary illustration of the Christian worldview in Hillsong United’s anthology is the repeated theme of individual redemption. An example of this theme is found in the band’s song “Lead Me to the Cross.” During the anthem, lead vocalist Brooke Fraser declares, “Lead me to the cross, where your love poured out. Bring me to my knees, Lord I lay me down. Rid me of myself, I belong to you” (2007). The contemplative words are a cry of personal reliance on God’s grace and his forgiveness of sin. The invocation of being swept of anything of the self is referring to the sin and selfishness of one’s heart. From this chorus, the personal redemption described in the Christian worldview is apparent. An essential characteristic of the worldview is God’s redemption at the personal level that involves the absolution of sin and the transformation of character, so that a person becomes gradually restored to the state of humanity before the Fall (the initial turning to sin that created the world’s problem). The philosophical questions of the problem and solution for humanity are answered in a musical format that is utterly simplistic, yet profound in nature. Another example of individual redemption is found in Hillsong United’s work, “None but Jesus.” In the ballad, the singers pronounce, “There is no one else for me, none...

I have always said the only thing I miss of a past girlfriend is her collection of Barenaked Ladies albums. After recreating her collection for myself, I learned that a new album was on the way. Maroon -- the band's sixth album is filled with 12 brand new songs with enough quirkiness and pop that will forever be the marks of the Barenaked Ladies (BNL). To my surprise Don Was, a Grammy Award winning producer whose name was also on my B-52's and Rolling Stones albums, produced this album. This pop-infused CD displays the BNL's signature of happy, jangly, tunes filled with sarcasm, irony, truth and passion embedded into every song that brings out old memories to everyone.
It will be released by Capitol Records and has been written by the “Stay With Me” hitmaker himself and his fellow Grammy award winner Jimmy Napes. "I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an

This pop song came along in 1996 and landed right on the American pop charts. The roots of the song were in Florida when it was a simple rumba in Spanish. Then a pair of Miami record producers discovered this song and music and made it into something so much bigger. The song is “Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)” and it rose all the way to number one on the charts on August 3, 1996.
