What Chris McCandless Sought For “Into the Wild” by Jon Krakauer was a novel told from various different encounters people had with the young man named Chris McCandless. McCandless met many acquaintances along his journey, however he didn’t keep them close as he often “ran away” from them. He traveled far distances across the United States. However, his trip did not last long. He survived for about 113 days before he died. Yet there is still a lingering question. He disliked the thought of being told what to do. Once he had his mind set on any idea, he was always persistent and adamant about it. This explained his behavior with his acquaintances he met along the way since he was social but not social at the same time. In the novel “Into The Wild” by Jon Krakauer it states, “Chris loved those trips, the longer the better. There was always a little wanderlust in the family, and it was clear early on that Chris had inherited it.” This just proves, Chris wanted to do something he loved and find the thing he was searching for in peace. I believe that McCandless did find what he was looking for. Although he was stuck in the Alaskan wilderness, he tried his best at what he loved. In the novel, “Into the Wild,” it states, “On the other side of the page, which was blank, McCandless penned a brief adios: I HAVE HAD A HAPPY LIFE AND THANK THE LORD. GOODBYE AND MAY GOD BLESS ALL!” This proves that McCandless was ready to accept his life. He had lived the one he hoped for.
