How can we compare an older composer to a modern artist of today? What are their similarities and differences? Obviously there have to be some, there being a huge revolution of ideas, inventions, and lifestyles from 1860, the birth year of Gustav Mahler, famous composer who is considered to be one of the best of the 19th century, and 1977, the birth year of Chris Martin, lead singer of the band Coldplay and civil rights activist. Right off the bat, one similarity is that they both garnered an interest in music at an early age, spurring them to further their career in that subject. Let’s take a more detailed look into their lives.
First I’ll explain the life of Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay. Martin was born on March 2nd, 1977, in Exeter, Devon, England. His father is a retired accountant, and his mother is a music teacher. (They have since divorced.) He is the eldest of his four other siblings. He took interest in music at a young age, and later on founded his first band labeled “The Rocking Honkies” while at a preparatory school in his primary years. He later attended college at University College London and successfully graduated with a degree in Ancient World Studies. It’s also where he met Coldplay band mates Will Champion, who plays the drums in this band, Guy Berryman, resident bassist, and Jonny Buckland, lead guitarist. All four went on to release five main albums including the ever popular Parachutes and Mylo Xyloto, among others. Hit songs like Yellow and Clocks topped UK charts in their time. Martin also has worked with other artists and groups, such as rapper Jay-Z and British pop group Embrace, both singing in and writing songs for them respectively. Martin is married to actress Gwyneth Paltrow and has two ...

Martin won both an Ivor Novello award and a Grammy Award for the Grammy’s ‘Song of the Year’ category, and the Novello’s ‘Best Selling British Song’ category. Both of these awards were shared with Mr. Champion, Mr. Berryman, and Mr. Buckland, because ‘he couldn’t have gotten anywhere in Coldplay without them,’ he said, when asked about sharing these high musical honors.
In conclusion, although both individuals had vastly different lives and origins, along with what they did with their lives, they are bonded in one way: their greatest accomplishments are music. His long career has seen him go thru several major label recording deals and at least three distinct publishing deals. He has achieved song placements in TV and film, and working with great producers and mentors like Danny Kortchmar (Don Henley, James Taylor, Rod Stewart), Peter Collins (Jewel, Rush, Indigo Girls), Monty Powell (Keith Urban, Lady A, Diamond Rio) and others that he’s no doubt picked up a few tricks from over the years.

In the book Don’t Shoot, David Kennedy and his associates used a focused deterrence approach of policing. The first thing that goes into the focused deterrence approach is mapping out the crime that needs to be dealt with. Receiving 911 calls will help in mapping out the crimes you are looking for, and knowing where they are coming from in that particular city. After you figured out where all the crimes are being committed, everyone in the criminal justice system needs to come together. This includes, probation officer, police officers, DA, judges, and even the community members. Then once you have all these pieces moving, you can then figure out who these people are that are committing the violent crimes. Once you know whom the criminals are,

Classical music can be best summed by Mr. Dan Romano who said, “Music is the hardest kind of art. It doesn't hang up on a wall and wait to be stared at and enjoyed by passersby. It's communication.
