China’s food is very unique and traditional. Grains are the main food in China. Rice is the favorite grain among the people in the South. In the north, people prefer wheat, which they make in to bread and noodles. Corn millet, and sorghum are also eaten. Vegetables, especially cabbage and Tofu rank second in Chinese diet. Roasted sweet potatoes are a popular snack eaten by the Chinese. Pork and poultry are the favorite meats in China. The people also like eggs, fish, fruit, and shellfish.

After eating at two different Chinese restaurant with the same delicious mouth watering food, I have came to realize that there are many contributing factors that makes each of these restaurants different in their own ways. In determining which restaurant is the best for you, there are some major factors that can alter your decision as we take into consideration the pros and cons of each based on your personal necessity. Many people who eat out would really consider things such as if the food tastes good, the cost, a friendly environment, and good service. The most important thing to always remember is if the restaurant is suitable for you. Although some similarities do exist between P.F Changes and Pei Wei, there is many more difference that sets each of these Chinese restaurants apart from each other.
A vast empire that continues to rise is the king of americanized gourmet asian cuisine, Panda Express. This fast food restaurant has its arms wrapped around a large demographic do to its large food proportions, great tasting food, and comfortable atmosphere. This is one of the most ideal things to bring in to Brownstown. The allocation of Panda Express to the people of Brownstown would only bring more people to the town as well as envelop its people in good tasting food.
In Canada, we often use knives to cut our food, forks for eating, spoons for soup, plates and bowls for our food, mugs to drink, and napkins to clean up after ourselves. I was flipping through the “Food” section of the San Francisco Chronicle on Wednesday, November 5th, 2003, and came across an enormous picture of a potsticker. The article about “Potstickers” caught my attention. I thought, so what? Is there really a history behind the famous dumpling? Surprisingly, yes. The article began with an introduction of how Amy Tan, the famous author of The Joy Luck Club, makes potstickers with her sisters in remembrance of their mother. They gradually linked into the history of the potsticker with a legend that many culinary chefs know today: A chef to a royal household left a pot of dumplings on the stove too long and discovered the bottoms had burned. The chef thought this would mean his head, but his smart son decided to present the dumplings to the emperor himself. When the emperor asked why the dumplings were burned, the son quickly explained it was a new recipe for something called potstickers. The emperor liked the crunchiness of the browned bottoms and a new dish was born.

This section will compare the culture and communication patterns of China with those present in the United States of America. This comparison will be accomplished by examining four cultural dimensions or aspects of communication. For convenience and clarity, the presentation of these dimensions will be broken down into four subsections: power distance, individualism/collectivism, high-context/low-context communication, and proxemics.
I was born in one of the countries in Asia, and our staple food is rice. Rice is always at the center of the table, and the rest of the viand surrounds it. Here in the United States, my household still eat rice every day, accompanied by cooked vegetables and meat. My food choices are influenced by culture and family. Vegetables and fruits of my choice are abundant at the International Market and other Asian grocery stores. Vegetables are also available for a cheaper price at the farmers market. I myself buy these foods to ensure its freshness, prepare and cook them for my entire family. One of China’s great leaders whose ideas, theories and philosophical ponderings have had a great impact on China's ancient and modern day societies is Master Confucius. Confucius has inspired the literature of modern and ancient China through important books which are still being read by Chinese authors today. Moreover, Confucius has had many achievements which have revolutionized philosophy in contemporary China through his philosophy of “The Five Relationships” which teach us truth to being human. Lastly, Confucius has had a major influence over religion throughout China's ancient age, as his religion known as Confucianism, is still being pursued today by many people in China. Confucius is evidently one of the most significant and important people ever to exist in ancient China.
A Chinese panda's diet is 99 percent bamboo. In zoos, Chinese pandas eat bamboo, sugar cane, honey,carrots, apples, eggs, fish, and sweet potatoes. Chinese pandas get much of the water they need from bamboo, a grass which contains fifty percent water. However, pandas need more water that what bamboo alone can provide. To fulfill their need of water, pandas also drink water from rivers and streams. As pandas walk around, they spread seeds which increases vegetation. Pandas communicate with each other through vocalization and scent marking.
Vietnam has variety types of food for every occasion, from an everyday meal to New Year’s festivities food. The flavor of the Vietnamese food varies from sweet, sour, salty, and spicy. However, rice, the mainstay of the Vietnamese diet, is grown throughout the country but particularly in the Red River delta in the north and Mekong River delta in the south. As Vietnam’s population started to increases, farmers had to produce quicker as well; making Vietnam the third country to produce the most rice. In fact, the Vietnamese people say that their country resembles a bamboo pole (the narrow central region) with a basket of rice at each end.(Food in Vietnam) Rice is eaten almost every day in the Vietnamese diet. Even though three-fourths of country is either a hill or mountain, the long waterway along the country provides a small variety of seafood like fish or shrimp.
Through new experiences, people are impacted by the unique taste of food in Asia. Nevertheless, not many people in the West know the taste of authentic food of, for example, Chinese food. A previous faculty member at NYU’s center for Multicultural Education and Programs, Rachel Kuo, a writer for Everyday Feminism, states: “The relationship between food and culture also means that food can be used as a tool of marginalization” (Kuo). For example, when thinking about Chinese food in the West, Americans often blurt out their main dishes such as fried rice or Lo Mein with General Tso’s chicken. Many assume that these cuisines are the traditional Chinese food. However, this may not be the case in a different country like Korea or even the original country, China. In Korea, Chinese food consists of noodles made with a black bean pasting called Jajang-meon and fried beef topped with sweet, pineapple sauce called tangsuyook. On the other hand, in China “Steamed white rice is the most commonly eaten food… Chinese noodles come dry or fresh and are often served in soups or fried as toppings such as Shou Mian” (Wikipedia). This difference in the authentic Chinese food and Chinese food served in the West provide clear evidence of manipulation for Chinese food in the West.
