China-Canada relations are clearly improving, due the fact that the two-way trade between Canada and China has sharply increased about eight times in the last 10 years alone. This increase in trade has massively increased the improvement of visas and the amount of visitors which come to Canada from China, not to mention the $55 billion that is now gained. “If China had a runny nose, the world will have a cold,” said China’s Consul General in Toronto, Fang Li, referring to the sturdy foothold China has on the global economy. This is undoubtedly true, however China needs Canada’s co-operation in regards to clean technology, environmental technology, food processing and health fields. Fang Li continues to point out that there are “1.5 million Chinese Nationals” living and studying in Canada compared to the 4000 Canadian students that study in China. This has caused China’s government to put in place a policy “where it will pick up the tuition of the student.” The Western criticisms of China’s human rights are partly to blame for this; however, China-Canada relations have started to “progress China into a more democratic society” and change the country as a whole. The result is clear: Canada’s global connections toward China are beneficial to all Canadians.
The LEGO Group organization is famous due to its flagship product – colourful plastic bricks that can be interlocked to form a variety of figures, and then disconnected again. These binding bricks originated in a wooden form when the company was first established in Billund, Denmark by Kirk Kristiansen in 1932 (The LEGO Group, 2012), and today’s well known plastic version was introduced in 1958 (Rosenberg). The company’s head office is located in Billund to this day, and The LEGO Group remains privately owned by Kristiansen’s family (The LEGO Group, 2012). They currently sell toys and teaching materials in over 130 countries worldwide.
With a population of 1.357 billion (2013)3, China is the most populated country in the world. Along with the huge population comes a market that is unmatched by any other country of the world. Both domestic companies and foreign companies want to tap into this large market that just recently embraced capitalism and entered into the World Trade Organization.
Top managers should be reminded that they are ultimately responsible for the quality of a product and the company. Quality management is one of the keys. By defining quality in operational terms, understanding the costs and benefits of quality, recognizing the consequences of poor quality, and recognizing the need for ethical behavior (Stevenson, 2012), will lead to a more productive operation. If Toys, Inc. specifically doesn’t want to hire additional positions to inspect quality they could outsource to a company such as SATRA whom from its website states, “SATRA can assess the risk of injury from a toy, as well as carry out analysis for the presence of restricted metals such as lead, chromium and mercury(2015).” Quality is the ability of a product or service to consistently meet or exceed customer expectations (Stevenson, 2012). Quality when it comes to manufacturing of toys especially those that have moving parts also brings in safety concerns. “Market watch officials and technological experts have warned parents to pay more attention to the quality of toys they purchase to better protect their children (Hazell, C 2011).” Parents will associate a poorly made toy, especially one that already knows that it’s poorly made by having a trade-in program as potentially dangerous for their son or daughter. Continuing to have customer dissatisfaction will further question the quality of our product and in turn the safety of our
In the book, The China Study, eight principals of food and health are based upon years of study. The eight principles are valuable for all people regardless of race or location. People are people and everywhere people need to eat. The principles found to work in China will work across the board regardless of location on the globe. According to the eight principals, good, whole-foods, plant-based diets will provide the nutrients required to maintain health no matter where one is. However, one’s biochemical individuality must be considered when recommending the principals to a client because of the individual dietary requirements. Some people must have additional protein or other nutrients that may not be available in a plant-based diet to meet his or her requirements. For most people, however, a plant-based diet as shown in The China Study can provide most of the nutrients required for health because nutrients that are available in whole-foods are biochemically correct for health maintenance. In my opinion, several principals are more relevant than others, particularly principa...
Manufacturers are responsible for making sure the products they produce are child safe. What this means is the products must be designed and marketing to children based on the age appropriateness. The products must comply with all safety requirements for each country Mattel does business. The products advertisement targeted to children must not exploit their innocence and age restriction should be placed on the products they produce so that the appropriate consumer age group is purchasing the products. Parent of these consumers must be informed, when parental guidance is needed in deciding to purchase a particular product because the product requires
InNei Chio Kenneth Fraunce ISEM May 14, 2014 Is China Becoming a Dangerous Superpower? There are many facts showing that the United States of America has been the leading world superpower since the end of World War II. However, recently, the rate of development experienced in China has been frightening; there are statistics showing that China’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is so high that it could exceed the USA in a few years. The concern, however, has been that China is underdeveloped and not mature enough to handle the responsibility of becoming a superpower. Some policymakers in the USA stated that China is increasingly assertive have perpetuated this assertion (Acemoglu and James 34).
The Chinese dynastic system was highly admired for its vast structural integrity which allowed it to persevere for more than two millennia. The Xia Dynasty was the first recorded dynasty in Chinese history, founded by a man named Shun who renounced his throne to his trusted official Yu. Rather than pass the power to someone qualified for the position, Yu then entrusted the Dynasty to his son Qi, setting the precedence for the Dynastic rule. 1 This ushered in the Hereditary System which was followed by many dynasties to come. Under the hereditary system the power was passed down through the family members. This system also had an added benefit of ensuring stability and continuity within the nation’s infrastructure.2
China's development is praised by the whole world. Its developments are not only in the economic aspect, but as well in its foreign affairs. Compared with other developed countries, China is a relatively young country. It began constructing itself in 1949. After 30 years of growth, company ownership had experienced unprecedented changes. Entirely, non-state-owned companies can now be more involved in sectors that used to be monopolized by state-owned companies.
After the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, China face one biggest foreign force – American imperialism. American imperialism is the policy that the United States aimed to control other country in economy, political and culture. America was also in the act of anti-Communist. Moreover, according to “A Bomb and Paper Tiger”: America’s growing arsenal of nuclear weapons made it clear that a war would place China at a great disadvantage” (394). Although American imperialism is a threat to China, it actually helps China increase its revolution and improve its status in the world.

As I mentioned LEGO started as a wooden toy company with 10 employees in 1939. In 1949 the company had a variety of plastics & wooden toys including the Brick. In the 1950’s the company is taken over by GodtFred as father Kirk has passed. Branded on 1954, the word LEGO. The toys are now being stamped with the LEGO. The company has a whopping 140 employees. In 1957, the brick is enhanced as a light inside is a added feature. In the early 1960’s, the wooden toy plant suffers and is demolished by a fire. The wooden toys have been taken off the market. In 1963, LEGO states their products’ characteristics shaping the ideal image of what LEGO comes to be in the 1980-2010’s.
