Children’s nursing personal statement Nursing is known to be a very challenging and demanding career, but to have the ability to make a difference to a person's life strikes me as rewarding. It requires a range of skills such as communication skills and experience with kids. Experience with kids is important as it shows that you have learnt to be patient and caring whilst being able to engage with a variety of ages from new-born up to adolescences. Another important skill is commitment, this is important as being a nurse is a lifelong career that involves continuous learning and development. Nursing is a career that fulfils this ambition. Having been part of a large family I have been learnt to help others and to do the best I can in everything.
When people think of a pediatric nurse practitioner, they normally think of a person who performs examinations, takes blood samples, and measures vital signs of children who are sick. What they don’t see are the countless hours spent getting to know the patient, showing sympathy and understanding, and having to explain the diagnosis and treatment plans to the parents and sometimes to the child. According to my career cruising inventory, any job in the medical field would be right for me. However, after reading the descriptions, I concluded that a pediatric nurse practitioner was the best path. Kids aren’t like adults, their bodies are growing and changing constantly and require specific knowledge to understand. I find it interesting learning about children’s mindsets and how their bodies are different from adults. I have always had a passion for working with kids and anytime that I have gotten an opportunity to be around kids and working with them I take it. I love being able to help kids feel better and to see them develop physically and mentally throughout time. Seeing a kids’ reaction to learning something new or feeling better is a highlight to my day which is why I chose to pursue my career in pediatrics as a pediatric nurse.

After finishing up term one of my nursing career, I can officially say I feel nursing is most definitely the profession I have been searching for. I have had an amazing experiences and practice by going to clinical which helped me improve upon my nursing skills and EOP SLO. To become a nurse one must become qualified in health sciences and be able to have the patience to deal with all type of people. Wanting to become a nurse one must have the strength, courage, dedication, motivation, and lots of hard work.
