Many children all around the world have cell phones, 65% of the world’s children make contact with a cell phone. (“Gsma Intelligence”) While many parents believe that their child should not own a cell phone, most parents want them to have one in case of an emergency. While many children believe that cell phones will help their lives, I believe this to be a horrible idea : Children can misuse their privileges to have a cell phone, cell phones can distract the child from the world around them, and cell phones are a pain to parents. First and foremost, when a child has contact with a cell phone they could be danger. This may not seem logical but cell phones change the lives of children. Applying the rule for a child not to have a cell phone helps the parent feel safer. Because now you know what they are doing and that they are not going on inappropriate sites. Children tend to have more anger against their parents when being in contact with a cell phone, 75% of the worlds children are rebellious against their parents, and may do stupid things to like go on inappropriate sites to get their attention (“Help Children”) If children did not have cell phones it wouldnt give them the opportunity to make fun of others in my words cyberbullying. The child would not have the chance to stay in their room behind a screen and hate on other. Children hate on others because their angry and jealous of what the other people have, 60% of the world's children are angry and jealous of their peers lives and to make themselves feel better they hate on that person ( “stop cyberbullying”) Cell phones reduce the amount of bullying in the world. Finally, it is a good idea for a child not to have a cell phones because they can misuse it ... ... middle of paper ... ...hat you buy the phones for can misuse how much texting and calling her or she has. (“cell phones bills are expensive) Last but not least phone are delicate people drp them and break them. they stop working throw them out People pay so money to fix their phone but it will never work the same again. When you drop your phone in water the water affect the device inside to cause it to act up you can put it in rice all u want but it will never work the same again. (can not fix your phone) In conclusion, children not having cell phones will dicrease the amount of cyberbullying in the world, also the children will not get the opportunity to misuse their phones. They can be a distracting in class. Also cell phones drop easy and are expensive. I believe cell phones should not be given to children. They caused children to miss behave and not be with their family.
Which is a good point, however, there are scenarios that these types of people have not thought of. There may be needs where a child needs to stay in contact with a parent because of an illness or needs to make arrangements for after school activities. In today’s society, parents are becoming more and more concerned with their children’s location. According to research at NLCATP, 48% of parents monitor their child’s location using the GPS technology in cell phones. (“11 Critical Pros and Cons of Cell Phone Use in School”). These are a few reasons why children should be allowed to have their cell phones in
Have you ever heard of the gruesome Columbine High School massacre? This incident occurred on April 20th 1999 and involved two students embarking on a shooting rampage, killing twelve students, a teacher and wounding twenty three others. Unfortunately during this incident, the school's most easily accessible phone was on the other side of the school in the library. Perhaps some of these lives could have been saved if the students in this class had cell phones that they could've used to contact the authorities more quickly. The issue we are addressing today is the use of cellular devices in educational facilities. I believe that cell phone use is of extreme convenience, and has academically beneficial aspects, among it's so called "faults".
Smartphones. A majority of the population staying on earth has one. They are an amazing innovation in the twenty-first century. It can be used to call, text, take photos and entertain an individual with some fun apps and games. Many parents can be seen these days with a cell phone in their pocket or handbag, chances are that you are one of those parents too! Who else has cell phones? Your children. Although cell phones can be impressive and useful in a variety of endless ways, is it financially necessary and mentally healthy, especially for the younger generations? Well, technically it really isn’t that healthy for an adult’s mental health let alone a young child who is barely aware of how to use an electronic device. The traits that cell
Cell phones could be a life-saver in the case of an emergency. In New York, a violent incident has taken place. Fortunately, timely communication from a student using a cell phone saved a man who desperately needed medical attention ("Cell Phones in the Classroom”). Another student has assisted the police to arrest the suspect by giving timely updates of the criminal scene using a cell phone in the school lockdown. In fact, many school districts have decided to lift the ban on the use of cell phones in school because of “the role cell phones have played in some emergency situations” ("Cell Phones in the Classroom” ). Moreover, parents could be easily in touch with their children, know their whereabouts through mobile communication, and therefore it would allay parents’ concerns (Cohen). For instance, lots of parents have claimed that they have to stay in touch with their children ...
First, safety is the biggest issue for parents. A kid having a cell phone can call home or emergency services when trouble arises. It also gives the parent the ability to locate their whereabouts with GPS features. Also, if kids are lost, hurt, scared, or witnessing an incident, the phone is there for them. Life is getting more difficult and it is essential for a kid to carry a cell phone with them at all times for their safety and the parent’s peace of mind.
Cell phones are becoming an extremely popular electronic device for people to purchase and in some instances they are even replacing house phones. They are also becoming more technologically advanced. Most cell phone devices can take and send pictures and videos and connect to the Internet for web surfing. Many children, even as young as kindergarten-age (COM-6), are becoming cell phone owners. The potential of things that can be done with these phones are endless. Cell phones can also expose a child to anything that anyone wishes to send him or her in a text or e-mail. I think that parents, teachers, and guardians need to be aware of both the positive and negative aspects of a child having a cell phone before allowing them to have one.
Furthermore, as more people get cell phones and spend more time using them, the number of injuries will increase. Not to mention, when people are on their cell phones the number of times a participant looks right or left decreases by twenty percent and the risk of getting hit increases to forty-three percent (Lazaros). Granted, people are not only talking and texting while walking, but also being perturbed by social media and playing games, too. Moreover, cell phones are distracting to kids’ education. Of course, students in school are distracted in class when they send and receive text messages. Additionally, cell phone use in class can lead to difficulty in school and a decline in grades ("The Cell Phone Zone"). The question still remains rather or not devices should be allowed in school or not. Additionally, text messaging can be used to cheat. Students who are texting are not able to pay attention in class and can disrupt everyone. Although cell phones are very convenient and a
With the blooming development of science and technology, mobile phones have become an indispensable part of life. The increasing number of teenagers who use a cell phone in schools which disrupts classrooms orders has become a major concern. However, mobile phones should not be banned in schools. Actually, it is not necessary to ban mobile phones in schools. Additionally, using mobile phones in schools has some positive influences. Furthermore, it is likewise a human right for students.
“It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity" (Einstein). For years now, technology has been taking our world by storm. Like most other technological advances, the cell phone has made life easier by connecting people from all across the globe. But the cell phone has also become a nuisance, now that there are countless applications at your fingertips. With all this high-tech data in one small device, students should not be allowed to use their phones during the school day because they are distracting, promote cheating, and can encourage theft.
People believe that it just an excuse to get on your phone and do something else. ( schoolmoney.org ) Many say that kids will do anything, including make up a lie about something serious, so they can get on their phones. The main reason for cell phones is communication. “They have become a priceless tool for safety.” (healthresearchfunding.org ) No matter what is going on you can reach help or be reached for help in the situation of an emergency. My proof was found on healthresearchfunding.org. In short cell phones are a way to communicate to someone in the case of an
...d to teach them how to be responsible with the phone. They should assign punishments for the children if they violate the rules of having a cell phone. They also need to keep them from researching the bad things and keep to the positive. Well to me, overall I think cell phones are not that harmful. Cell phones are only harmful if they remain in the wrong hands. If you feel that you are responsibly ready for a cell phone, then gone ahead and get one. But if you feel like it can cause a distraction to your work ethic or education, don’t even bother. We don’t need any more accidents, or kids not graduating because of them being distracted of a cell phone. I sometimes get distracted by it but not while I am working like on this essay. My phone has not been touched since I have worked on this paper. So cell phones are good in the right hands.
In this essay, I would like to point out the benefits of letting your kid have a cell phone when he/she is in elementary and in high school. I will point out the advantages and the disadvantage about having a cell phone. Advantage to giving your child a phone would be for emergencies, parental contact, and academic help. There are also disadvantages to letting kids have a cell phone. They are a distraction to kids, they can cheat using them, and they can cause social media inappropriate behavior. It is very important to weigh both sides and consider if a phone is the best decision for your own child. Allowing your child to have a cell phone is the best decision
...le have been asking whether they should give their children cellphones or not. A lot of people came up with answers in two different sides. Some people said that children should not have cellphones at their age because cellphones can lead them to a lot of dangerous things. On the other side, some people said that the children should have a cellphone because they need to, and the reasons are children need to associate with the new way of technology such as, iPads, iPod, etc. Also they claimed that, their children gained in progress with their work. Many schools are now making new rules or guidelines to improve the educational impact that school has on students. One of these new rules or guidelines is a ban on cell phones during school hours. This new guideline upsets many students that use cell phones because they feel that it takes away their freedom. It is a privilege, not a right, that those students even have cell phones, and they are abusing their privilege tremendously. This new guideline is a superior guideline to follow, and in the long run, students will realize how this ban affected their learning experience. Cell phones should be ultimately banned for a number of reasons. Cell phones are a distraction to other students, it is a major distraction to the student with the cell phone, and there are phones in the school that students can use whenever they need.
