The author that I choose was R.L Stine. The reason I choose this author is because, he writes one of the best children series (in my opinion). His book series are called “Goosebumps”, and are mostly scary stories, he also wrote other series. He writes his stories in such a way that grabs the reader’s attention and makes them want to read more, especially with cliff hangers at the end of chapters. If it wasn’t for this author I don’t think I would have ever read books during elementary, I probably ended reading over 30 of his books. His books were really addicting and got me to finish some of his books within 2 days, which is a lot faster than when I read other books. His books were also New York Times Best-Selling Series.

Hunter S. Thompson was born on July 18, 1937 to an insurance agent named Jack Thompson and a young lady named Virginia Ray in Louisville, Kentucky. Thompson showed an early interest in reading and journalism according to Andie Tucher, Even going so far to creating a newspaper with some friends at an early period of schooling. When 1952 Thompson’s father died and this seemed to push him into an early encounter with the law with a variety of crimes, a mugging was the last of his luck putting him away for two months and missing his graduation. As Thompson got older he became a renowned journalist with his work involving the Hell’s Angel’s in 1966. Thompson’s next masterpiece came in 1971 with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. This novel popularized Thompson’s version of journalism called Gonzo Journalism. (Tucher, Andie) Gonzo Journalism is best explained by Princeton University:
Theodor Seuss Geisel or better known as Dr. Seuss is a very popular children’s book author. He is one of my top favorite authors of children books. Dr. Seuss got many of his crazy ideas for his books from his hometown . His hometown was Springfield, Massachusetts. His mother was his inspiration for making rhymes. One reason I really think he’s an extraordinary author is he incorporated some of the world’s great issues and put in them in a children’s story book. For example in one of his famous books the “Lorax” recognizes the take on environmentalism and how humans are destroying nature. He was a genius in story telling.

I also remember as young girl learning how to read and my favorite book that I could quote word for word was “Green Eggs and Ham” by Dr.Suess. I loved that book so much I still have that today. As I got older my love for reading and books started to diminish, I went to a private school for my elementary years and their curriculum was very intense. It was required to read a book from their approved list and complete a book report each summer before the school year began. Not to mention the numerous books reports I would have to complete during the school. At an early age books and reading was something I had to do and not what I wanted to do.
