When, it comes to raising a child a parent doesn’t really have guidelines. They want their kid to be successful, intelligent ,with what they need in life to be a good adult. But what do they need? I think three good things that a parent needs to teach their kids is good morals, respect, and independence. If these three things are integrated into a childhood, then I think that that child will be able to become a good human being. Morals are a big part of childhood, because there are so many of them. What the difference between right and wrong is. If stealing is alright. We are not born with these inbeded into our heads. We get them from watching people. Just like how we learn to talk, we mimic our parents behavior. Parents are our biggest influence on us. They should show us their good morals. Of course everyone isn’t perfect, and we all make mistakes, yet when we do something wrong in front of a child we say something a long the lines as “What you just saw, don’t ever do it.” because we don’t want our children to do what we think is wrong. Morals dictate a lot of our lives Our jobs, what we learn in school and what we learn from people revolve around our morals. If we don’t believe that something isn’t right, then we don’t do it, and we learn that from our parents. That’s why morals are a big part of childhood. What we need to be taught is respect. Respect is major idea that needs to be carefully grown and cared for in children. If a child doesn’t have respect for people then they will not be able to get a job, and if they do, they won’t respect what they have and will lose it. If they don’t have respect for school then they are sure to drop out because they feel they can do without, not knowing the benefits of teaching and learning. If we don’t show our children respect, then generations to come will lose respect for things that which we hold dear. That’s why our children need to know respect is important. Independence is something that comes with time. While we are young, we cling to our mothers for safety. We then start to crawl, yet when we are scared we cry until our mother picks us up.
Proper respect for others begins by a person respecting their self. Respect is developed by expressing honor, leadership, value, and trust in a person. If everyone respects everyone someday, the world will become a seventh heaven. It is important to be respectful for safety, to abide by the law, because children are influenced by their elders’ actions, and because God says so. Motivation from peers can help a person realize there is always room to improve the level of respect a person exhibits. Respect was, is, and always will be a positive attribute for everyone to strive for in their lives.
The most successful way to instill righteous and moral behavior and thoughts is by demonstrating our respectable interactions and honest problem solving approaches during difficult times of our lives. “As adults we should dare to be adults that we want our children to be”. They learn by watching and are quick to mimic our behavior with their peers outside of home. The author writes that “we should strive to raise children who: engage with the world from a place of worthiness, embrace their vulnerabilities and imperfections, feel a deep sense of love and compassion for themselves and others, value hard work, perseverance, and respect, and also move through our rapidly changing world with courage and a resilient spirit” (214, 218-219). All of these elements will help to transform the way we live, love, and
This is just a short article inspired by the (Martin Luther KIng Jr.) this research was carried out through a questionnaire and the result showed a huge decline on respect in the schools.
There are certain characteristics of parents who influence their children’s moral behavior. The first characteristic are warm and supportive parents, parents who also involve their children in family decisions, parents who models morally thinking and behavior, and finally parents who inform their children of what behaviors are acceptable, expected and reasoning behind. An example of these parents’ characteristics’ can be when a child is upset because their sibling has taken their toy from them. A parent with the above characteristics will talk to the children on their level, ask open-ended questions, and talk about solutions for their issue. The parent will also voice own opinion on what is the acceptable thing to do, and explain why that is. These four characteristics are sort of strategies’ that are excellent for parents to utilize in order to foster their children’s moral development. Parents who are warm and supportive tend to have a secure attachment to their children which is the base for creating a positive parent-child relationship, without that, parents cannot model behavior to the child, as the child will not trust in the parent. By being an informative parent with reasoning, parents teach their children positive socializing and thus an appropriate positive moral behavior. They also provide
At a very young age, children are exposed to values before they gain the ability to reason effectively and to think critically. Whenever they misbehave, their parents correct their behaviors by means of punishment. Therefore, a misbehaved child will associate their wrongdoings with a negative emotion, deterring them from performing the punished behavior. They also learn morality by absorbing the emotions of those around them in their environment, and as a result, their feelings and behaviors are shaped by what they observe. Additionally, individuals introspect their feelings to decide whether or not their actions are considered moral. If an action makes the individual feel guilty, then he or she will conclude that it is wrong. This could not
No one teaches us how to be parents. As parents raise their children they hope to raise them to be good members of society. A child’s upbringing is reflected as they interact with other children and other people. When they come to act inappropriately or in a way society doesn’t see as normal, the person to blame is the parent. As a parent, today and always, they need to raise their child to meet the societal norms and at the same teach them to be good citizens. The parenting a person receives will be reflected when they form their own family. The belief is then formed to be to raise a better family than the one raised in. The different parenting styles and the factors have to be taken into consideration such as time, the environment, and the social and psychological aspects as well. The belief is to be a loving and tolerating parent but there is no perfect way to parent because each child has their own needs.
There are many approaches to parenting and everyone has their own preferences as to what they think is best. In a fast paced rush around society, it is hard to know what the best choices are for your children. There is a struggle to balance what needs to be done with what can be done, and this has negative and positive feedback on the children. Parents play a critical role in shaping and guiding their children into functional confident adults. An effective parent will learn as they teach in order to grow into understanding with their children.
Successful parenting may be judged by many different standards. Raising a child to be a respectful, mature, and independent adult requires a great deal of effort. There are several parenting styles, and not all lead a child to reaching their full potential. Overpowering sternness leads may lead to a rebellious child, while passive parenting may lead children to inept for the challenges of adulthood. Parenting requires more than teaching children submissiveness, or building of self-importance. Children learn best from a role model who is admirable. Parenting is a great opportunity to set the course of one’s entire life in the right direction.
In many homes parents establish moral assumptions, mandates, priorities. They teach children what to believe in, what not to believe in. They teach children what is permissible or not permissible—and why. They may summon up the Bible, the flag, history, novels, aphorisms, philosophical or political sayings, personal memories— all in an effort to teach children how to behave, what and whom to respect and for which reasons.
Encourage the parents to make mutual respect the foundation of their relationship. Many of the children presented in Dr. Perry’s book had an adverse respect for adults and other authority figures. I believe that showing a child respect is the best method of teaching them to respect others. People tend to respond positively when they are treated with respect.
To begin with, we will explain the first level of moral development, which is preconventional moral reasoning. Children’s moral reasoning usually occurs at this level, particularly children who are “10-13 years of age...” (“Kohlberg’s Stages of Moral Development.”). At this level, moral values are influenced by external forces such as the authority; behavior of children depends by their judgments of their actions and direct consequences. “Behaviors that results in punishment are viewed as bad, those that lead to rewards as good.” (Berk 320). Children differentiate right and wrong in terms of what their authority (such as their parents) tell them what is right and wrong by either giving them rewards or punishments because of their behavior.
In my experience I have only had the feeling of true independence once or twice in my life. I felt this felling when I am by myself and nothing is around you but woods, waterfalls or complete silence.
From a very young age, my mother taught me to do things for myself. As I got older and asked her why she encouraged that idea in me, she told me it was because she wanted to be able to know I could take care of myself when she is not here anymore. That is when I understood her reason in why she enforced my independence, instead of depending on her so much. Of course, everyone at one point in their lives was dependent when we were kids, but eventually we all become independent when we reach adulthood. However, I strongly believe in being an independent individual is important, instead of being dependent because before we start to settle down in life, we are by ourselves in search of who we want to be in life.
There are many different things that I take into consideration when it comes to parenting. Parents have many different responsibilities but there are three in particular that I think are very important. Being a good role model is important, as well as listening to your children and disciplining them appropriately. If you want to be a good parent you have to put your kids first.
One of the most important things to parents is that their child grows up to be a caring, healthy human being. Parents were actually asked what the most important thing they wanted for their children was. “The most common response, given by 48% of the parents, was making sure their child grows up to be a moral person.”
