I want to become a child psychologist because I want to help kids feel safe and feel comfratable enough to speak on their problems such as being abused or feeling neglatied. I honstley feel like conflicts take over kids the most since a persons childhood is where everything usually beigings. When children miss out on events or milestones in their lives they beging to change and I find it very interesting wondering “why” and “how” they think is very intriguing. Many times people dont give their kids the care of knowledge they need to take on as they get older. Watching crime and action movies there maybe a child whos being abused mentally or physically and the social worker comes and attempts to help that child in need but as a child they’re afraid to speak up since their so tramatized its …show more content…
It comes in handy when im woriking with kids who are very young and need you to be patient and flexbibale wiitht them. Some kids have a hard time telling others what their going through because their in such a tramatic state so being able to have patiences with them is a big thing. I’ve taken different paths and made new choices to able to purse this career I really want to help children all over the world to feel safe to use their voice to speak up and feel safe to tell anyone that they trust if someone is hurting them. This is another reason why I want to become a child pshycologsist as parents, family or friends we need to help children meet those milestones that will lead them to make better decisons in their lives. Everything starts in beging of our lives wether its being bullied or not having friends those are the things that effect people as they get older. Most times when teenagers my age or older commit crimes their background story revolves around “His/Her childhood, they didn't have friends, she/he was bullied” those are the childhood errors that lead to peoples
My choice to become a part of the childcare profession was not just made casually. This decision was the result of a thought process about what I wanted to do with my life. I finally took a career in childcare because I believe that it is one of the most important duties performed in the community. Within this profession, I hope to find both personal and professional accomplishment. Hence, it is my desire to be a part of a noble profession.
I've cared for people and am a good observer when it comes to looking out for problems and conflicts. That's why I feel as though I'd be good in this field to help out children who need it the most, because I'm the type of person who can detect when something's wrong and I put my whole heart into something that is important to myself and the child in need. I've weighed the pro’s (helping out children, getting them in a safer environment, and doing what's best for the parent) and the cons (not being able to help everyone, and being put in dangerous situations) of this field and determined that the pros outweigh the cons that kids in need are so important I'm willing to put whatever on the line to help out whenever and wherever. This job takes a lot. You have to put all into it, and that's the type of person I am. I put my all into the things I do and am willing to sit down all night if need be to come up with a situation to help those who need
Every day, children, adolescents, and their families experience the stressors of disease, injury or disability. In some circumstances, these children are sent to the hospital and trapped in a world where doctors, nurses and other health care workers come in and out of their small rooms poking, prodding and talking in a medical language that is foreign to them. With the assistance of a nurse to treat and care for the child, a Child Life Specialist (CLS) can help reduce these challenges and promote healthy coping skills and development. As a Capella student, my academic goal is to earn my Master’s in Psychology with a focus in Child and Adolescent Development.
There are so many cases of bullying, and suicide in young children that I would enjoy helping before it gets to that level. I would also enjoy helping parent become empowered to becoming their children's ambassadors when dealing with situations that they are unfamiliar but need addressing. This also would be a career path that would require more educational time for myself however as stated above the rewards far outweigh the time
The article “Startling Finds on Teenage Brains”, by Paul Thompson, states “While research on brain-tissue loss can help us to understand teens better, it cannot be used to excuse their violent or homicidal behavior”. Thompson writes how even though teens cannot be understandable, they have a certain behavior that was caused by violent or harmful issues they've had at their young childhood. Another example would be in the article “Juveniles Don't Deserve Life Sentences”, by Gail Garinger, says “These children were told that they could never change and that no one cared what became of them”. This shows how these kids can have negative feelings about what they are told at a young age, leading to crimes. Every teen that has committed a crime has had a certain issue or negative way of growing
One of my visions as a psychology practitioner scholar is becoming a clinical counselor. My purpose in psychology is to help people understand their life in a clear distinct way. I specifically want to target children and, help them grow and be more than they have the potential to be. I want to focus on the child development of children based on their environment. I want to be able understand children react the way they do in certain situations. Children have a way of not being able to express themselves fully so being able to help them understand their emotions.
Choosing a career is a very important aspect to people’s lives. One goes to college, usually around the age of eighteen, and by the time they leave they are expected to have decided on the career that they will have for the rest of their lives. Being a psychology and interpersonal communication major, I have always had an interest on relationships between individuals given certain stimuli presented to them. I want to have the ability to touch people’s lives by helping them understand themselves and why they behave the way in which they behave. Relationships are such an important aspect to the process of human growth, and they impact each and every one of us. Due to this assessment of myself, I have decided to go to college to pursue my goals of being a clinical social worker.
Not only did I find interacting with them enjoyable and personally fulfilling, but I feel it helped me to understand the behavioral and emotional mechanisms not only of people much younger than me, but also of people from significantly different backgrounds and upbringings than my own, environmentally, economically and ethnically. As a social worker, I feel that it is important to be neutral. The world is a very diverse place and it is crucial to be open-minded while communicating with others. I believe my time working with children has improved my ability to adapt appropriately to various age levels, resolve conflicts and remain patient in emotionally heightened situations. I have found being involved in social work to be an extremely rewarding experience and look forward to continue my growth in the field.
Today we live in a society where it is not uncommon for children or pre-teens to end up going down the wrong path leading to a long life of delinquency. In some instances, children start heading down the wrong path in life as early as the age of 12 years old. Most of the troubled teenagers are between the ages of 13 to 18 years old. These teenagers can even become violent as they experience the “growing up into young adults” phase. Many teenagers grow up in homes where there are no responsible adults that can provide the type of guidance that can help them become responsible individuals.
The career field I picked was Child Psychology. Child psychology is the study of how children act and behave. In general, a childhood psychologist might work with children and their primary caregivers in order to research, assess, and possibly treat developmental issues. Depending on his preferred area of study, a child psychologist will often work with all sorts of children. Not every child that a child psychologist works with is considered to be abnormal. A child psychologist might work with so-called "normal" children for several reasons.
Most humans tend to live by example and studies prove that our behavior is learned, but how do we explained the bad behavior of those that have good parents that are excellent role models. Some people would said that the parents are too flexible and the kids take advantage of them in the other hand when parents neglect the kids and are bad role models for their kids we easily find the answer to the problem. As a society we contradict ourselves for example; sometimes we tell parents to not be too flexible with our kids but at the same time we do not want parents to discipline their children too harsh. The question of why juveniles commit crime does not have an exact answer. Some juveniles commit crime because of peer pressure, anger against life, and others might be just do it for fun. Even though the question does not have a conquer answer to why juveniles commit crime we know that different factors contribute to the issue. In the book True Notebooks Mark the author did not only explain his personal experience as a volunteer teacher at the juvenile hall, but also what he learned from his students and how his perspective change regarding the juveniles as he spend more time with them. Mark also discover that even though he was not aware of it he was making a positive change on some of them and the fact that he was willing to teach them a writing class meant so much for some of the students, and most important Mark present on the book the different reasons juveniles commit crime.
I was able to assist my dad while he was going through a rough time with my mom. My dad knows who psychologists are, but being able to explain the significance of psychology and encouraging him to see one made me happy. It not only helped him recover with his personal issues, but also helped him understand what my mom is going through. In addition, this topic has impacted me for future use, not only for myself, but for others I can share this knowledge with. The importance of psychology, coping with stress, or knowing what the different types of psychologists can all be applied to my career towards junior personnel, through educating them, or the application of my everyday life, and benefiting my outlook.
