The fate of those caught and prosecuted with child pornography is evaluated and analyzed in relation to severity and effectiveness of the punishments. Child pornography crimes are almost stable in the United States of America. Race is influential in because some races are most associated with the vice. In both the years when the studies in this article were carried out, child pornography was found be prevalent in non-Hispanic whites (Wolak, Finkelhor & Mitchell 36). This implies that the white males are the most notorious in child pornography. It is also evident that the vice happens in also most parts of the country and across the divide in terms of social, academic, and economic backgrounds. This is evident from the finding that the offenders were of different educational, geographi... ... middle of paper ... ... United States is a real problem in real time because it is targeting the most innocent members of the society. There are more efforts directed at fighting the vice by law enforcement agencies, which are at high alert on child pornography. The risk posed by the offenders is exceptionally high given the fact that they have higher chances of succeeding by targeting children. The punishment should be made more severe, and stringent state laws applied. In addition to embracing better methods of fighting child pornography, knowledge about the same crime is crucial. This will boost the efforts of curbing the use of technology in perpetuating child pornography. Works Cited Janis, Wolak, David, Finkelhor, and Kimberly, Mitchell. In today’s American society, almost everyone, even children as young as six, owns a cell phone with a camera. Although convenient, camera phones also open the door to massive problems concerning child pornography that stem from sexting, or sending nude or lascivious photos. According to a 2010 Federal Bureau of Investigation survey1 of 4,400 middle and high school students, “approximately eight percent of students reported that they had sent a sext of themselves to others while thirteen percent said they had received a sext.” The main problem with sexting, aside from being child pornography if it is a picture of minors, is the ease of dissemination of the sext to other contacts or even the Internet. The United States alone has seen several students commit suicide after a sext intended for one person’s eyes went viral or was sent to the entire high school.
The adverse subjects of child pornography and sex tapes have consistently been a controversy in the world. Today, there constantly seems to be a new sex scandal or pornography crime occurring. When the car industry comes to mind, you think of Detroit. When oranges come to mind, you think of Florida. When pornography comes to mind, you think of the Internet. Almost everything in today’s society has its place, and the place for the pornography industry is the Internet. Being almost inevitable, pornography has become part of everyone’s Internet experience. Whether its junk e-mail or a nasty pop-up for $3.99 a month subscriptions, its hard to say that there isn’t anyone out there who hasn’t been exposed to Internet pornography in one way or another. One reason for this is the overwhelming size the pornography industry has grown to become. For some, the easy access to the industry has allowed for millions of dollars to be made. For others, this has caused serious problems. Parents who have children know what troubles Internet pornography can bring. Not only do actual pictures and services provide a venue for profits to be made, but software preventing the easy access has became more popular as well.

Child Pornography, as stated in section 18 of the United States Constitution, defines child pornography as generally “any visual depiction involving the use of a minor in sexually explicit conduct.” Sexually explicit conduct is defined as “actual or simulated” sexual intercourse, which includes genital-genital, oral-genital, anal-genital, or anal-anal, “whether between persons of the same or opposite sex.” Sexually explicit conduct also entails the crucial “lascivious exhibition of genitals or pubic area,” which will be explored in more detail in the case study. Finally, section 18 depicts the transportation of such conduct through the use of computers. Basically, digital cameras, scanners, video capture cards etc. are all used to convert any image or such to the desired and needed format to easily store or transport child pornography.
In the today’s society, social media has gone out of hand. Most people these days have a cell phone, Ipad and/or laptop and most definitely a television at their home. Therefore, access to pornography has become extremely easy and can be available to any individual in less than 5 minutes. The best definition of pornography can be explained as sexually explicit words or images intended to provoke sexual arousal. The easy access to porn has raised many people to question if porn is harmful, if it should be censored, and if it is unsafe. Many debates have been going on about porn concerning freedom of rights, speech, and entertainment and right of privacy. The main people to have argued on this point are Catherine Mackinnon and philosopher J.S. Mill.
Throughout the world, the protection of children is the main priority. When it comes to the United States, pedophiles are recognized as a threat to the wellbeing of kids of ages of 13 and under. Pedophilia is a mental disorder that can be treated; however, there is no cure for it. This means that pedophiles could be aided in a manner that protects both the pedophile and the youth. In the United States pedophilia is viewed more as a criminal case than a mental disorder resulting in criminal cases of pedophilia not decreasing and the endangerment of the pedophile and their mental health.
