It warmed her heart to hear the concern in Jared’s voice. He seemed genuinely worried about her and their unborn child. If only he’d give her a chance – a real chance – then there’d be no need for her to stoop to such deceptions as this. If only he’d crack open the door to his heart just a smidge so that she might rush in
In the beginning of the story, Janie is stifled and does not truly reveal her identity. When caught kissing Johnny Taylor, a local boy, her nanny marries her off to Logan Killicks. While with Killicks, the reader never learns who the real Janie is. Janie does not make any decisions for herself and displays no personality. Janie takes a brave leap by leaving Killicks for Jody Starks. Starks is a smooth talking power hungry man who never allows Janie express her real self. The Eatonville community views Janie as the typical woman who tends to her husband and their house. Janie does not want to be accepted into the society as the average wife. Before Jody dies, Janie is able to let her suppressed anger out.
The marriage with Jody consisted of nothing but oppression towards Janie both physically and mentally and throughout it Janie seemed to take in all the words and pain from Jody in a way to build up to her character at the end. As previously stated, the scene in which Janie realized that Jody was not her answer to the years of confusion she spent with Logan was when Jody humiliated her in front of the townsmen, this behavior however did not change. When it came to simple tasks that anyone may forget to do Jody would immediately point it out to Janie and publically yell at her, “Somebody got to think for women and chillun and chickens and cows. I god, they sho don’t think none theirselves.” (71) In this scene it is most prevalent on how Jody views Janie, like an animal that is owned and has to be guided in order to survive. At this turning point, Janie is almost near erupting to being on her own without any man by her side, however the moment which pushed her to it was the moment the abused turned physical, “He struck Janie with all his might and drove her from the store” (80) At this moment staying with Jody and putting up with Jody’s abuse was no longer an option for Janie, sitting back and allowing the abuse to continue without putting her say in no longer existed and the Janie that would no longer allow this took over the old dependable
When Oprah made the movie, she changed up some of Janie’s relationships. Janie’s relationship with Jody changed, and you can see it easily. “Janie, though occasionally speaking her mind, shows little fight during their marriage. However, her caring nature will not allow her to rest while Joe is in his sick bed” (Janie). In the book Janie serves as just something
As we see into Janie life we see that two of the three relationship end in a death both were abusive. During Janie second relationship with Joe, Joe begin to feel insecure about his appearance so he begin to point out Janie flaws out as they were both growing older though he is older. He mentally abuse her by bringing up her age constantly to make Janie feel insecure about herself as he felt insecure by himself. Then the climax happen, Janie stood up for herself and being to display his flaws and age in the store people being to laugh at him, ridicule him so he slap her and Janie ran out of the store. Because of this incident the relationship became stressed and he ignores her, even when he was sick and needed a doctor which Janie recommend this act of rebellion ultimately lead to his

Her father came back to bring her after a long time he left her. As a girl, she wanted to be with her family, but she thought about all the things, about her father, then she determined that who knows if her father again abandons her. That was the reason she let her father go, and Jameela let all the pain go from her heart. “No, baba. I didn’t say it right. It‘s not that I can’t go with you. It’s that I won’t go with you. I’m staying here.”, said Jameela.(pg.181) This shows that she learned a good lesson that she mustn’t depend on the people who bother her, also she should try to avoid situations which may bother her later like going with baba. She was in a difficult situation which she had to choose going with baba or staying by herself. That situation helped her to be the person that leaves the pain as she didn’t go with
That point she was trying to explain to him that she told her that way before they stared dating, and just continued to accuse Jan of betraying his trust and friendship.
What was the matter? Rasheed wanted to know, lifting her chin. Was she ill? Was it the baby, was something wrong with the baby? No?
...ony and eating food that she was not allowed to eat. One time, she claims she was held naked in the bathroom for days with no water that she had no choice but to drink from the toilet to survive. On top of all that, she admits that Reine’s brother sexually molested her 3 times and warned her not to tell anyone or else he would beat her. This is when the investigator requested to get the employer’s statement, but her brother told him that she was admitted into the hospital because of a nervous breakdown. Her psychiatrist “advised” the investigator not to take her statement since she was in bad shape. This was an abvious attempt to avoid taking to the authorities. In the end, the jury ordered Jonaleynne to be kept in Caritas until she was recovered and then sent back to her home, and Reine is currently in the Baabda prison for women.
My hypothesis was to determine the effects of maternal presence versus absence on sibling behavior.
Observation is important as the practitioner can find out what the child is interested in and what motivates them to learn alongside their progress and how they behave in certain situations, additionally at the same time it identifies if children need assistance within certain areas of learning or socially (DCSF, 2008). Furthermore the observations check that the child is safe, contented, healthy and developing normally within the classroom or early years setting, over time the observations can be given to parents as they show a record of progress which helps to settle the parent and feel more comfortable about their child’s education. Observations are not only constructive within learning about an individual child, they can be used to see how different groups of children behave in the same situation and how adults communicate and deal with children’s behaviour (Meggitt and Walker, 2004). Overall observations should always look at the positives of what children can complete within education and not look at the negatives and all observations should become a fundamental part of all practitioners work alongside reflection (Smidt, 2009).
