1. How would you frame your reaction to this argument?
Each time I drive on the freeway and see the advertising billboard for the “Chik-Fil-A” Restaurant, I smile. The billboard features cows in trying to convince a public to eat more chicken in many different ways. The billboard gets my attention due to its comical, but cleaver simplicity. This ad is one of the series of this restaurant advertising campaign. Most American public easily recognizes this campaign. This particular ad of three cows are holding a protest poster with hand written message saying to “EAT MOR CHIKIN” is clearly a promotion for the well known “Chik-Fil A” restaurant serving mostly chicken meals.

The image is using a pathos appeal to the observer sympathize with the desperate cows and their misspelled protest posters. There is a bit of logos appeal built-in in this message as well. The logical expectation these cows are representing is that the consumers who eat more chicken meat will more likely eat less beef meat.

The purpose of this advertisement is to bring more customers into the Chi-Fil-A restaurant. The message here is that the desperate cows encourage eating more chicken in the restaurant, where mostly chicken meals are served. This argument is based on deductive reasoning. The general principle, in this case the cows convincing consumer to eat more chicken, applying the underlined issue, a hope the consumer will eat less beef, and forming a conclusion of assumption that more consumer will attend the Chick-Fil-A restaurant.
