Many of us have mixed feelings when it comes to fast food. We know it can't be very healthy for us, but we still regularly stop at a drive-through whenever we feel the need for a quick bite. And just to further our feelings of guilt, the fast food industry is associated with many different myths that are seemingly designed to scare people off this particular type of food. While some of them have a basis in truth, most are just plain nonsense. Here are 5 myths about fast food that you really shouldn't believe anymore:
5. Chicken Nuggets Contain Pink Slime
This myth caught fire in 2010, when an image of pink slime falling into a cardboard box started to circulate on the Internet. Allegedly, the pink slime was supposed to be the filling on McDonald's best-selling Chicken McNuggets. Despite various announcements that the picture had nothing to do with McDonald's, this myth only gained traction during the next four years. It was finally dispelled in 2014, when McDonald's released a video that showed the whole process of preparing their ultra-popular nuggets. Unsurprisingly, the pink slime was nowhere to be seen.

Taco Bell Doesn't Use Real Meat
After Taco Bell made it known that their meat is only 88 percent meat, a lot of people were interested in finding out the truth about the other 12 percent. In 2011, Taco Bell found themselves on the wrong end of a lawsuit – apparently, the plaintiffs wanted them to stop referring to their products as meat. The lawsuit was quickly dropped, but the rumor stayed in the public mind. Or at least it did until 2014, when Taco Bell released a list of the ingredients that comprise the other 12 percent of the meat. While some of them are hard to pronounce, rest assured that they're all FDA-regulated.
3. Arby's Roast Beef is Made From
In 1979, McDonald’s Executive Chef Rene Arend created chicken nuggets. In 1980, McDonald’s test marketed these nuggets at one of their restaurant locations in Knoxville, TN for the very first time. The nuggets received great praise and their popularity was overwhelming. Soon after, other McDonald’s franchises heard about these nuggets and they were in high demand from every franchise. The demands for these chicken nuggets were in such a high demand that the McDonald’s Corporation could not keep up with the demand nor supply them to every franchise. The McDonald’s Corporation encountered a few bumps in the road such as being able to have enough chicken to make the nuggets, and keeping the nuggets frozen while being transported to each of their franchises, but by 1983 they had solved this problem. McDonald’s first introduced Chicken McNuggets to their menu in 1983. Since then, people have been hooked on these McNuggets. The nuggets are sold in small boxes of four, six, ten, or twenty pieces and come in four shapes: bell, bone, boot, and ball. The...
Lean Fine Textured Beef (LFTB); or its more common name in recent years, Pink Slime is becoming quite the hot topic. Questions are raised on whether the pink slime is safe for human consumption. The name alone has given it a pretty negative reputation. On top of whether or not pink slime is safe or not, another concern is what benefits, if any does it offer as opposed to other meat alternatives. Not different than any other story this one has two sides; although there are a lot of allegations that pink slime is not safe for human consumption and it does not offer any benefits, there are many responses putting the allegations to rest. What if it wasn’t called pink slime?
