In the year of 3,000 B.C. man showed his first interest in Chemistry. The first known person was a woman who created perfumes from different substances. During this time Chemistry was more of an art than a substance. In the next paragraph I will tell you what society was like before technology was added to Chemistry. What chemically natural resources limited and advanced the process of technology being added to Chemistry. How adding the technology has affected our society. And how I think it will affect the future of Chemistry.
Chemistry before technology was known as alchemy. Alchemy is the medieval forerunner of chemistry, based on the supposed transformation of matter. According to the New York Times article “The Magical Origins of Modern Chemistry” alchemy was a philosophy and practice that sought to understand the nature of matter. Because of the alchemist they were able to make porcelain, pigments, perfumes, gunpowder, and pharmaceuticals. Before technology was brought into chemistry it took longer for scientist to discover certain items and chemical compounds and it took them longer to figure out how to do certain things. Before there were phones and computers scientist and chemists could not share their data with others in hope to gain more knowledge and ideas on how to make chemical reactions work. A lot of chemical reactions and medical advancements comes from things that already exist in the natural world. Technology only enhanced what they could combined and make out of something that already exist. Natural resources could have also caused a delay in the combining of certain chemicals because they did not have what they needed in order to make or combined chemicals. As long as things head in a positive direction we have the chance for a very bright future. I hope that this essay has advanced your understanding of how much we have evolved from the ancient days to now, but also showed you some things that our society has done wrong with the technology by not putting their efforts into what I believe is where they needed to be. Chemists are the specialists in chemistry, that interact with chemical properties, and reactions. The earth is made up of different gases. Some of this gases are needed for life in the planet but other gases can be harmful to the living. Gas’s use in regular quantities are favorable to the earth. The world started to become more advance and had to use more of this gases to produce everyday objects and inventions by men. Little did we knew this chemicals we going to affect us in our life. Chemist Jose Mario Molina actually discovered that chlorofluorocarbons were affecting the ozone layer.
The book’s main thesis statement and author’s main point was all focus on how, what, and why the seventeen changed the course of history and still continue in effect. The author is trying to tell us that not only human interaction alters the history, but it also involved chemistry and science: 17 unique molecules. These molecules provided the foundation for early exploration, and made possible many voyages of discovery successful. Spurred advances in many different fields of study and great knowledge poured into the world by the discovery of these molecules; they determined the world we live in right now. Some great historical shifts can result from even a change as small as the position of an atom can lead to enormous differences in the properties of a substance. Atwood takes many of today’s potential scientific developments and illustrates the worst possible outcome of what may happen if we continue the unregulated pursuit of knowledge. In reality, the scientific advances of today will yield a higher standard of living for the majority of the world tomorrow. We will continue to push for the best in everything including science, medicine, and technology; we will not allow any single person to make the sole decision to develop an idea. Scientific progression will save many lives; therefore, it should and will always be there for us.

The Alchemyst by Michael Scott is a fast-paced novel with diction that makes it easy to understand as well. Recommended for particularly teenagers, but adults as well, this book introduces a new world of magic where everything is unsuspected and will leave the reader guessing at all times. The topic for my essay is going to talking about Chemistry and Technology, and has a focused on the invention and influence on the microscope. Chemistry has helped people look at technology in a different way, such as by the way we use it and how easy it is to find data faster. Technology has also changed Chemistry several ways. Some examples are finding new viruses and finding cures to prevent diseases from spreading around the world and.
The presence of alchemy is seen throughout history but is not seen nearly as much today. People used alchemy in an attempt to convert base metals, commonly iron, into gold or to find the elixir of life. Humans have never found any of those things, but there is a no going scholarly debate about whether was alchemy a valid part of chemistry’s history and if alchemy is a part of chemistry then it isn’t a pseudoscience. Technology is important in our world today. Terry Tempest William’s “The Clan of One-breasted Women” is about women having breast cancer because of bomb testing from 1952- 1961 in Utah. In this case technology has a negative effect on the human race. On the other hand, “The Technology of Medicine” by Lewis Thomas is about money and the technology of medicine. There are three different levels of technology in medicine according to Thomas and they are “nontechnology,” “halfway technology” (582), and “technology of modern medicine” (583). It is obvious that technology benefits humankind with cures for diseases and prevention of sickness. Without technology, medicine would not be as advanced and there would not be as many medical procedures as there are today. By using technology, doctors have found out how to prevent certain diseases or viruses by immunizations. In fact, the human race needs to have technology to advance the medical field, as disclosed in Richard Selzer’s “Sarcophagus” about surgery, from the doctor’s point of view, showing all of the technology he uses during procedure. All these essays have examples on how technology benefits human kind. Therefore, technology is a friend of humankind, when used with restrictions, because it has made improvements in medicine and has proved its usefulness in hospitals.
Our basic objective is to examine the scientific developments through history and how they affect human life and society. To meet that objective we will first develop tools to analyze the relationship between science and the increasingly complex decisions we have to make regarding the way we apply science for human welfare.
