To the 20, to the 10, to the 5, touchdown! Charlie Gaines is a football phanatic. He knows all there is to know about football. From his favorite team the Los Angeles Bulldogs to the New England Patriots Charlie knows it all. Above all this Charlie truly wishes he were a better football player like his bosom buddy Kevin Fallon. All in all he is still a decent middle linebacker for the Culver City Cardinals. A kid known as the “Brain” because of his freakishly good ability at fantasy football, Charlie Gaines is a very interesting character. One reason why Charlie is an interesting character is because he is a football genius. I swear he knows the tendencies, stats, and just about everything about every single player active or retired. He even knows more than most team owners, including Joe Warren, the owner of his favorite team the Los Angeles Bulldogs. Mr. Warren is also one of Charlie’s best friends. Charlie is the king of fantasy football. He seemingly always knows when a player might have a breakout year or a big season. Many of Charlie’s opponents are intrigued when he picks up Tom Pinkett, an old back-up quarterback. Joe Warren, also looking for a veteran quarterback for his Bulldogs, signs Tom to a contract. Tom ends up having a great start …show more content…
and helps the Bulldogs win their first game. After Charlie’s idea turns out to be a big success, Joe Warren starts to ask Charlie for other suggestions. When the Bulldogs starting middle linebacker goes down Charlie recommends signing Jack “Sack” Sutton, a former first round draft pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jack Sutton was let go by the Jaguars after he blew out his knee. In his first appearance back, Jack helps the Bulldogs win. He ends up helping lead the Bulldogs to their first playoff appearance in franchise history. They don’t call Charlie the brain for nothing. Another interesting fact about Charlie is that he notices indifferences in plays and formations even before his coach does. I mean isn’t the coach supposed to know everything. Charlie was so good at noticing differences in formations that he might even know what play he other team is running before the play even begins. He will notice where the tight end is lined up and he can remember whether or not they threw out of that formation earlier in the game. That is an amazing ability. Knowing what play the other team is running will help you win ballgames no matter who you are. Because of Charlie being a coach on the field the Culver City Cardinals win the league championship. The best play in the title game was because of Charlie. The boy is such a genius. Finally Charlie is an interesting character because he had no father growing up.
It’s a little bit odd how he developed such a passion for football on his own. Most of the time, I personally, watch football with my father and Charlie never got to experience that. Joe Warren, Charlie’s friend, ends up filling the role as a father figure. They talk football together, Mr. Warren goes to Charlie’s games, and they just flat out like each other. There love goes deeper than football. Charlie is devastated when he learns about Joe Warren’s illness, cancer. He has non-Hodgkins lymphoma to be exact. They battle through the illness together. Honestly Mr. Warren was a better father than Charlie’s biological dad could have ever
been. Charlie is the cream of the crop when it comes to fantasy football. His skill is matched by next to no one. Only the dream team of Anna and Joe could potentially beat him, but he won’t let that happen.
Charlie was found by the FBI, hiding and hungry in a storage closet in the basement that would normally only be accessed by maintenance workers, after being missing for 11 days. His biological mother tells interviewers that she sent Charlie to live with his father because his school grades were declining and the father wanted to home school him. Apparently the father kept very strict rules and those expectations may have opened the door to the abuse that took place.
Charlie had a large and diverse microsystem, the level in which he has direct relationships with, in the movie. He had his mother’s house, where he spent
“ Patrick says this about Charlie” (during the Homecoming Weekend party), he contrasts the "perks" of being a wallflower with the negative aspects, which are seen when Charlie have difficulty talking to others and observing rather than participating. Patrick agrees Charlie's position in society, the regular Charlie is able to sit back, chill and listen, yet he still understands and is great to his friends. This behavior of charlie is a turning point in the novel. From this point forward, it is easier for Charlie to see and find value in himself. He finds it much easier to participate in the events around him, and he spends less time guessing about what he is about to say or do. He may still struggle but he will get the hang of it, often reverting
After Pittsburgh, Billy kept preaching in the east, and the people loved him. He became very popular in Scranton, Pittsburgh, and many other eastern cities, because of his preaching techniques. Even though the people liked him, a lot of the pastors didn't. They thought that because he spoke in slang, he was blasphemous, and shouldn't
Charlie loses some of his innocence when he witnesses his sister being hit. While watching a movie with his sister and her boyfriend when his sister “leaned into him for about four movie scenes”(11). He started to cry and she said “You see, Even Charlie stood up to his bully You see” (11). He got very angry and hit her across the face. Charlie got shocked at him because “he was the boy that made mix tapes with themes and hand-colored covers until he hit my sister and stopped crying”(11). Charlie learns sweet and kind people until pushed good people can do bad things.
Charlie did not like his father very much, he described him as '…a desolate, lanky, drooping weed of a man who married late in his life but nevertheless had been easily domesticated.';(3) His mother's sickness and departure seriously afflicted his father. In spite of the fact that Charlie portrays of his father, he was a soft and sentimental man who loved his wife. Once he had the chance to dispose of Charlie, he went to visit his wife in the hospital. Although they are father and son, Charlie does not seem to appreciate the time he spends with him. At the end of the school year, Charlie was shipped off to his grandmother's, Grandma Bradley.
“Slower Than the Rest” by Cynthia Rylant is a realistic fiction about a kid who finds a turtle and names the turtle Charlie, and he makes Leo happy. In the beginning, Charlie does funny things in front of Leo. Soon, Charlie starts to act like Leo. In the end, Charlie helps on Leo’s project at school. This story shows that Leo learned some things from Charlie.
Charlie had been the victim of his friends and his name had been a common joke in his place of work for when somebody messed something up or broke something. ¨Boy i sure pulled a Charlie gordon there!¨ (Keyes 224). After he realized he was sufferer of their jokes for years he made some changes of who he decided to put himself next to. Again another reason why his life after AI was better off.
During his decline he doesn't “know what’s worse: to not know what you are and be happy, or to become what you’ve always wanted to be, and feel alone” (279). The farther he goes with his intelligence, the more he realises that “intelligence is one of the greatest human gifts. But all too often a search for knowledge drives out the search for love”(249) showing that because he has become smart he has put off his search for love, like the one he had at the beginning for his teacher. Close to the end, Charlie locks himself away in isolation from everyone else so they wouldn’t
There are many reasons why Charlie should have stayed away from the operation. First, when Charlie goes to work at the factory, he shares his interactions with his co-workers. Charlie’s entry from that day says, “Then Frank Reilly said what did you do Charlie forget
She described how he “went all confused and silly. You know, as if a grown man starts acting like a kid. Talking about how you wanted to go to school and learn to read and write so you could be smart like everyone else. Crazy stuff like that” (194). She also tells Charlie “you kept saying you couldn’t play with me because your mother would take away your peanuts and put you in a cage” (195). The old Charlie’s goal to be smart and his fear of being with a woman are apparent through his drunken stupor. Fay, however, laughs off Charlie’s remarks, telling him “you were phenomenal. What an act! The weirdest. You’d be great on the stage”
He made attempts to check into rehab a few times but was unsuccessful and persisted to consume excessive amounts of alcohol and sex. Charlie has been married three times. He has five children and one grandchild. His ex-wives reported him as being emotionally and physically abusive. In 1998, he was hospitalized for a stroke after overdosing on cocaine. His breaking point came when he was diagnosed with HIV in 2011. His actions escalated after he was seen displaying erratic behavior and angry outburst in an interview on television. He broadcasted his anger towards his family, ex-wives, the media, and even his fans. He was soon after fired from his successful television
Not surprisingly, after the accident, Phil wasn’t sure he was going to coach football any longer. After all, they say losing a child is one of the most painful experiences for a parent to endure. Yet, as the months passed, he reconsidered his decision and returned to coaching because as he stated, “I still have too much to give and I’m not done yet.”
I think Darrel Curtis is a Static and round character. Darry does not show a major realisation throughout the book and that would make him static. Ponyboy thinks that Darry does not love him but in fact he has showed it throughout the entire book it’s just in his own way. “I didn’t think! I forgot! That's all i hear from you. Can’t you think of anything.” Darry was showing his love by being a big brother and trying to teach Pony through discipline. “You two do up the dishes. You go to the movies if you want to before you go see Dally and Johnny.” Darry was showing his love by rewarding Pony with the movies for doing his hard work. I also think Darry is a Round character he has many traits and shows them throughout the book. “I told you, you
In my short story, the main character is James Peterson. He’s very introverted and he has trust issues. James is a complicated character; his street smart, wise, witty, quiet, independent, and a great liar. Growing up in the streets, gave him the abilities of being wise and independent. James lives with his two friends, Gil and Jack, in a small house in New York. James makes a living by stealing and occasionally hacking jobs, which is why he is a great liar. Due to his trauma, he tends to have a hard time trusting people thus making him great at hiding his real feelings. He looks strong on the outside but deep inside, he’s complex and unpredictable. I am most excited in developing James’ personality, especially with letting himself open up
