Should we allow embryonic cloning? Charles Krauthammer wrote the argument “Crossing Lines” to discuss the issues of embryonic cloning. Embryonic cloning has been a big discussion, whether or not it should be approved. A good number of representatives from America, discussed the idea of reproductive cloning and not a single one of the representatives agreed on the idea. The choice to do embryonic cloning can cause many problems and the process is destructive. Embryos are going to be created for exploitation and then they will be destroyed. This whole process of creating the embryos just to destroy them is cruel to human life. Some people may agree with embryonic cloning, but Krauthammer does not believe that it should be done. “Crossing Lines” was written to inform the audience on why embryonic cloning should not be allowed. Krauthammer stated multiple reasons for the negative effects of cloning and the outcomes it has had so far. But, Krauthammer also doesn’t explain very well in his argument the reasons why we should do embryonic cloning. It seems like he doesn’t want people to see the other side of his argument. People assume that we can do embryonic cloning because we have tested it on animals, but the results of testing it on animals hasn’t had the best results. If embryo cloning was able to be done, they believe they would be able to create a kidney or heart. In order to be able to do this, they have to take the stem cells out and grow them in a laboratory. After they are grown in the laboratory, they will tease them into thinking they are a certain kind of cell. Cloning babies has been banned, but they are allowing them to clone embryos. This is showing that there could be a chance in the future where they allow research cloning, but won’t allow reproductive cloning. Not allowing reproductive cloning could possibly mean that they need to destroy the …show more content…

The world's knowledge on how to clone the embryos is still low and there is more work that needs to be done. This proves the fact that cloning needs more research before they start. They believe that even though they don’t understand as much as they should about cloning, they believe they know enough to do it. IVF is used to create a child, as the embryonic cloning is just laboratory means. This includes only using one embryo which would not be using destruction like the research cloning. Destruction of IVF is not necessary at all, which is why we support IVF and not embryonic cloning. The article “Crossing lines” written by Charles Krauthammer states that if you are not using the embryo to create a child, then you have to destroy the embryo. Destroying the embryo then makes it useless to even do research cloning. The reason for destroying the embryo is because the point of the embryo is to create a child. Krauthammer is informing people in his argument on different reasons why we shouldn’t consider embryonic cloning and research cloning. He mentions in the argument that they had tried embryonic cloning on different animals. In 1995, a researcher from Texas tried this experiment on a
