Introduction
When we think of a manager, what kind of personality comes to our mind? Do we see a person who is like Steve Jobs, able to determine the future prosperity of a large for-profit company? Or we see an administrator of non-profit organisation? (Bailey & Ford, 2006, 7-12) Behind every successful organisation there is a dedication of a great manager. In every big organisation there is a hierarchy of management that keeps the whole operation running smoothly without hurdles. To become a role model or a leader, it is the manager’s duty to allocate and use all the resources of the organisation in the best possible way.

The world of work continuously changes with time. Also there are change in the characteristics and qualities of managers who are going to lead organisations. Work is not the same as it used to be in earlier times, we are able to see these drastic changes happening in front of us. There are huge changes in both technology as well as behaviour not just in our professional lives but also in our personal lives, this means the managers who were successful in the past, necessarily do not mean will be successful in the future also. It is very difficult to assess what comprises the skill sets of a great manager which makes them leader and different from the rest. In order to be a successful manager we have to keep up with the changes happening around us. Managers need to have certain qualities, which helps the organisation evolve and succeed in future. The great managers are those who become the role model for their peers and society.

Through my self-analysis, my previous history, four tests and the five feedbacks it has been assessed that I might be in the right direction!! Despite the fact that I do have few qualities of a good manager, the question does arise about not being in the correct line!! However, there are scopes of improvements which I have to work upon, as no one is perfect, neither am I. There is always a possibility of improving, which I will try my level best. Management cannot be learned in a day, it has to be continuously practiced and I am sure my managerial skills will improve with experience!! Hopefully my continuous practice and dedication will surely overcome my weakness in the long run!! . Being in Australia and studying at ECU might help me open up and to easily accept new concepts and new ideas!!
