Character Reference Letter for a Friend The purpose is to provide a character reference for Bob Simmons whom I have known as a classmate, roommate, and friend for a period of six years. I first met Bob our freshman year at State College. We were studying an arts program there and became acquainted through a number of classes that we shared. By the second year, we had become friends and decided to live together in an off-campus apartment. We shared that living arrangement until we graduated last year. Having gotten to know Bob over the past few years, puts me in a position to provide you with a pretty accurate assessment of his character. As a student, Bob was hard-working and highly committed to his education and grades. I believe that his excellent transcripts will attest to that fact. In addition, he was involved in a number of extra-curricular activities including the track and field team and the school newspaper. In his last two years he was Assistant Editor of the "Campus Times". He was always outgoing, willing to help someone out, and was very popular with his fellow students. As a roommate, Bob was a great choice. He was very neat and tidy at all times and he liked things in the apartment to be kept orderly. He made a point of cleaning his own room and the common living areas on a regular basis. He socialized occasionally at home but was always respectful of my needs, and he and his guests kept the noise down and ended their activities at a reasonable hour. As a friend, Bob is as good as they come. He is loyal, honest, respectful, and supportive, and has the ability to see and understand things from another person's perspective, not just his own. He is a great direct communicator and knows how to raise and discuss common living issues and problems in a non-threatening manner. He is hyper-sensitive and is always tuned into how the person might feel in a given situation.
For instance, Dally is mean, rude and tough, and Bob, although he is mean to greasers, has a nice personality towards those he likes. Even to his friends, Dally comes across as cold and mean. Ponyboy describes his eyes as “blue, blazing ice, cold with a hatred of the whole world” (10). Dally enjoys being a menace to society and the bane of the city’s police force. In fact, Dally slashes the tires on the car of his friend Tim Shepard. Ponyboy states: “Dally didn’t give a Yankee dime about anyone but himself, and he was cold and hard and mean” (90). With a friend like Dally, who would need an enemy? Conversely, Bob Sheldon is a nice guy when he is not under the influence of alcohol. Cherry Valance, Bob’s girlfriend, says, “He could be sweet sometimes, and friendly” (128). If Cherry fell in love with Bob, then he must have a good side. Furthermore, Bob’s best friend Randy tells Ponyboy, “Bob was a good guy. He was the best buddy a guy ever had” (116). People clearly like Bob. Would anyone describe Dally as the best buddy a guy ever had? Tim Shepard clearly would not see him that way. Even Ponyboy, at the beginning of the novel, states that he does not like Dally. Therefore, Dally and Bob’s personalities set them apart. The variances in their personalities show that they are, in some ways, very different
Many people have come and gone through my life. Like a revolving door, but it doesn’t matter how long they stayed in my life. To me, it only matters on how they made an impact on me. I think about Kurt Zuidmulder every day, he was a coach, teacher, and father. He was also a friend to the whole community of Hermantown, MN, and Hibbing, MN. He was the greatest human I have ever met, and I will never forget him. Kurt affected me through his larger than life personality, his incredible sense of humor, and his overall kindness.
My parents met in Engelhard, North Carolina in 1996. They both came to the United States for the same purpose, to work and send money back to their families. They were hired to work at a factory where they had their first encounter. They instantly clicked and began getting to know

As a child, Daly was anything but a hero. He constantly found himself in trouble. He was incredibly bright but not academically driven. At prep he would constantly receive JUG for his outspoken behavior. He would drive his grandmothers Model T and he crashed it twice due to his recklessness. He had a bad temper at prep and once hit a Jesuit with a coke bottle. He had a messy room and senior year he arrived four days late for school just in time for a school holiday. He was ...

While many others were heroes, Bob Ewell was the opposite, not just putting himself first, but endangering the lives of others.

Squeaky has a different and interesting personality. She always defends her older brother Raymond when people make fun of him. She has a very high self-esteem and is not afraid to be realistic about things. She is also very determined, she always wants to accomplish her goals and always wants to help other people. Squeaky and I share some character traits like being determined to help others, being athletic, and having high self esteems and not being afraid to voice our opinion. I think squeaky is a likeable person because I think she will always be there for you no matter what circumstances. I would like to be friends with Squeaky because she would lift you up but she will also keep you on the right path. I think Squeaky is a good person to be around because she will support you through
And from time to time, Robert does exhibit some outstanding qualities of character which have earned the respect of so many of us gathered here today. He is generous to a fault – especially if it’s his own. He is exceptionally modest – although he has plenty to be modest about (or at least he did until Pamela became his girlfriend). And he is a man who always sticks by his convictions - he will remain in the wrong no matter how much he gets ridiculed for it.
I was afraid that he wouldn’t welcome this change in his routine that I was bringing, but he was extremely warm and polite; he had the amiable personality that makes anyone feel as though they could easily open up to him. As we start conversing, it is almost as if he wanted someone to come and talk with him.
You have to take into consideration of what kind of food you are eating because you need to remember everyone has different likes and dislikes. Especially if you are both home at the same time for meal times. Cleaning actually gets mom or else your roommate does not think you are a cleanly person. When you are living with someone you cannot have gross habits, most of the time if that happens no one wants to be your roommate. When you are combining two peoples skills, you can work together to get things done in a professionally amount of time.
