Long John Silver is one of the best characters in Treasure Island. He is everything anyone would imagine a pirate would be; he is sly, cunning, and peg-legged with a parot on his shoulder. Long John Silver sets the trademark cliche of the classic pirateband tuat is why a lot of other popular pirates are based on his characteristics. Long John Silver is a lot like an older and wiser version of Jim Hawkins, they share a lot of the same qualities. They are both brave, well-spoken, very practical and both are quick to change sides if need be. The only difference is that Long John Silver is a pirate, or "gentleman of fortune" as he likes to be called. Also, there are many examples of Long John Silver's very persuasive manner. He tricks Squire Trelawny into believing him over th captain. The fact that Squire Trelawny believes in duty and class shows how persuasive Long John Silver is. It is also very interesting to see him convince young Dick Johnson to join the pirates while they were on the Hispaniola.. So, one thing that...
In the essay Island Civilization: A Vision for Human Occupancy of Earth , Robert Frazier Nash discusses the past and present human impact on the environment and offers solutions for the distant fourth millennium.
A man, once curious, thought highly of and condoning cold blooded murder. Has no found a new love of killing people. A murderer, loving to see people in pain from the suffering of dying or getting injured, creating a hole with sharps stakes for people to fall into, and feeding a powerful person to hounds. He is no more obsessed with hunting animals, but hunting humans. This man is now the general of Ship Trap Island. Rainsford becomes the next general of Ship Trap Island. He becomes the next general of the island because he has a similar outlook on life as General Zaroff , and he has changed from not wanting to hunt humans to wanting to hunt humans.
A man named Robert Laughlin once said, "The Earth is very old and has suffered grievously: volcanic explosions, floods, meteor impacts, mountain formation and yet all manner of other abuses greater than anything people could inflict. Yet, the Earth is still here. It's a survivor." Laughlin clearly believes in this quote that the Earth can take care of itself. The Earth has been through worse disasters than just pollution, and extinction of species and plants. Roderick Nash, an environmentalist and activist, says otherwise.
A silversmith that Johnny is apprenticing. He is a good silversmith but he cannot remember his orders very well.
However, with the sighting of land, new worries and troubles are in the air. The pirates are not content with their leadership—a doctor, a wealthy man, and a weak captain. With land and mutiny in view, most of the crew heads to shore and lines are drawn for the standoff that is to come; Jim sided with the “leadership” and a few other faithful crew members, and the other side was the rest of the crew led by Long John Silver (an infamous pirate and the antagonist of the novel). With drawn lines and already many deaths, the first days were eventful and full of excitement. On Treasure Island, tensions were high as were the death rate and the number of those wounded.

In the following writing I will discuss three of the elements that are included in the show: tension; role, character and relationships; and situation.

In the book Treasure Island Long John Silver seems to change a lot. He goes from being the villain to the hero in the course of just one page. From being described as a seafaring man to an intelligent and smiling, clean and pleasant-tempered man, Silver seems to change from good to bad to good multiple times in the book. Scenes that portray the two faced man are when Jim is in the apple barrel and Silver goes off about killing Jims friends, when Silver tells Jim he truly cares about him, another scene that show this is when Jim runs off into the island and Silver calls out for him, as well as the scene when
Money, money, money, and the love of money is the root of all evil. Money, has led the characters of Treasure Island to kill, lie, cheat, and put themselves in great peril to acquire it. The Squire Trelawney, the good Doctor, and Jim really have no cause to go in the search of the fortune that they did not earn or place where it rest. Wealth, whether found, earned, or inherited does not automatically speak well of the owner. The test of one’s character should be more than economical success.
