The Walking Dead is a horror drama television series that takes place in a zombie infested post-apocalyptic world. The series revolves around a sheriff 's deputy named Rick Grimes, who was shot and wounded in an altercation with criminals. As a result, he falls into a deep coma for months and awakens in a world in complete chaos. Rick at the beginning of the series searches for his beloved son, Shane and his wife, Lori across the state of Georgia. Eventually, Rick reunites with his family at a camp outside of Atlanta, Georgia, where a group of survivors try their best to avoid becoming zombies. As the series unfolds so does the layers of Rick Grimes personality. Rick’s personality traits are that he is a generally calm, caring, intelligent, fair and natural born leader. Unfortunately, his personality becomes his biggest weakness because he puts a great deal of responsibility upon himself. Rick blames himself for any negative occurrence that affects the group, even if it is not his fault. As the series progresses, Rick experiences a constant stream of traumatic events that ultimately take a toll on him. The former sheriff goes from a loving caring father to a psychotic leader that is willing to do anything for his people. For example, Rick was in a coma during the events that led to the zombie apocalypse. While he was in a state of unconsciousness, his best friend Shane becomes close to Rick’s wife Lori and they become more than just friends. Shane and Lori thought Rick was not going to survive so they started to see each other. Shane becomes the father figure for Rick’s son and ultimately replaces Rick within the family. Rick wakes up up from a coma in a hospital under chaos and spends weeks trying to find his family. When Rick finds his family, Lori does not mention anything about Shane. As the show progress, Rick unravels clues about his best friend and his wife. Ultimately, Rick confronts Lori about the affair and she tells him the truth. Rick did not seem mad at the affair because the chances of him surviving the coma were extremely low. Although, the thought of his best friend being romantically involved with his wife and becoming a father figure for his child seem to have hurt him. For months, Rick keeps the secret that he knew about the affair from Shane. All the negative emotions against that Rick had against Shane seem to be built up. He slowly was becoming more hostile towards Shane. As a result, Rick eventually asks Shane if he had slept with his wife while he was in the coma and Shane said he did not. Paul A. Cantor explains in his story that “this show suggests that its characters must ultimately reply on themselves and their own resources. Watching season 1, you would’ve never imagined Carol being alive in season 7. In the beginning, Carol’s character is a beaten down mousy housewife and mother. Her husband was very emotionally and physically abusive. This vicious cycle of abuse left Carol with little self-worth that left her mentally unprepared for survival skills needed in this zombie apocalypse. Carol quickly realizes that she needs to take matters into her own hands and makes tough decisions that no one in the group will. She eventually becomes so passionate about self-preservation that she starts teaching knife skills to children in their group. There have been numerous claims and allegations surrounding The Walking Dead claiming that it somehow lacks as far as race and diversity are concerned; however, this is completely and utterly false. For one, even if there wasn’t any diversity shown in the main cast, the author has no obligation to do so from a narrative perspective, but that is completely irrelevant because author Robert Kirkman has a very healthy amount of variety in the main cast. Not only having included them, he also gives these several diverse characters important roles and unique attributes in the story. In the first volume of Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead graphic novel, there is representation for strong female characters, African Americans, and Asians; additionally, these ethnicities are all portrayed in a unique way, not being devolved into mere stereotypes for the sake of fitting the mold of the narrative and contributing to a diversity quotient.

The well-intentioned actions and selfless motives of Rick is evident in these three examples. In the early events of the zombie outbreak, Rick manages to escape the hospital and meets Morgan and his son Duane. After Duane mistakens Rick for a zombie and knocks him out with shovel, Morgan and him bring Rick to their shelter. Even though Rick is desperately concerned to locate his missing wife and son, he never forgets to return the favor. For a few more days, Rick stays with Morgan and Duane as he takes the two into the town's police department to use the showers and retrieve weapons and ammunition. Despite the overwhelming danger and his worried state, Rick is able to retain his good moral character to the people of of his neighborhood, like Morgan and Duane.

The media did not hesitate to call Salman Abedi a terrorist. Abedi was killed in the Manchester massacre, hence his intentions were never revealed. To compare, Stephen Paddock who is responsible for the Las Vegas shooting could not be labelled as a terrorist because “We still do not have a clear motive or reason why.” The definition of terrorist does not apply only to ‘Muslims’ howbeit to anyone. It is merely a stereotype that is rapidly corrupting the world. This is the same reason we enjoy zombie movies without contradiction. Terrorism is the second greatest fear in America while zombies are the least according to a Chapman University extensive survey. Zombies are fictional, as one grows up they can separate the real from the fake. Although we are still scared of them, meaning there has to be some truth. Yes, they are brain-eating monsters but they also embody a real life ordeal that we are facing greatly in reality.
