‘’Kiss me, kill me’’ is a not a conventional romantic movie but except from romance it also includes elements of thriller, drama and humor. It’s the first feature film of director and writer Yang Jong-hyeon.
Yoon Hyeon-joon (Shin Hyeon-joon) is a quiet and lonely contract killer that lives with his alcoholic mother (Kim Hye-ok). Seo Jin-yeong (Kang Hye-jeong) is a depressed suicidal young woman dumbed by her boyfriend. Fate brings the two of them together when Seo Jin-yeong hires Yoon Hyeon-joon, through his agency to kill her in her sleep because she wants to ‘go out with a bang’. Love truly can move people, can make them put new goals and can motivate people to change their lives and become better persons. An example for this is the transformation of Yoon Hyeon-joon’s character after meeting Seo Jin-yeong and falling in love with her. This transformation is represented in subtle details like the petting of the dog at his friend pet shop and more vividly by doing mistakes at work e.g. the hilarious scene when he forgets to take a photo of the victim after killing him and returns to crime scene, now full of police officers, to take the photo. These misttakes also caused him to lose his job but in the end both Yoon Hyeon-joon and Seo Jin-yeong come to the realization that love is important and life is better than …show more content…

Many of their meetings are unintentional and they meet due to fate, a favorite theme of Korean movies. One of my personal favorite scene that supports this statement is towards the end of the movie. This scene gives a new light at their fist encounter at the beginning of the movie even before they meet at the house of Seo Jin-yeong. In this scene Yoon Hyeon-joon gets into a car accident while staring at Seo Jin-yeong (at that time without knowing who she was) and the leaves on the roof of the car get disturbed. One of these leaves lands on the shoulder of Seo Jin-yeong, who was crying. She removes the leaf with her hand and it is carried by the wind and reaches again Yoon Hyeon-joon. Yoon Hyeon-joon is now on the roof of a building with a gun just before he misses and shoots Seo Jin-yeong. It’s a really poetic, beautifully made scene, both in terms of directing and hidden meanings. The scene is accompanied by heartwarming background music and the whole scene really touches the heartstrings of the
