Slightly more than four years ago, the world was given the saddening and earth shattering news that Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, had died. It’s fair to say the man went long before his time – but in that four-year span of time, his legacy and relationships have been thrust into the spotlight. And, for better or worse, those relationships are on display in the latest Steve Jobs bio-pic, simply titled – Steve Jobs.
In Steve Jobs, directed by Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, 127 Hours), Michael Fassbender stars as Steve Jobs – the co-founder and driving force behind Apple. In the first of three distinct points in Jobs’ life, Steve is about to walk on stage to introduce the world to the Macintosh (1984). But, before he can go on – he must deal with a significant glitch to the system, the mother of his

True to form, Winslet is stunning in her portrayal as Hoffman – as if that should come as a surprise, although her character tends to appear more like a personal assistant as opposed to a meaningful spoke on the wheel. Regardless, Hoffman serves as a voice of reason for the occasionally outlandish Jobs – and a final stanza exchange between Fassbender and Winslet illuminates the duos unique and boundary-less working (and friendly) relationship.
Normally, you’d think both Fassbender and Winslet would steel the show – and to an extend Michael Fassbender does rule the roost, so to speak. However, Seth Rogen and Jeff Daniels chime in with precision and amble execution. Clearly Daniels is still in The Newsroom form, and sounds as if he walked straight onto the Jobs set from the now defunct HBO series – though he’s effective in his efforts, nonetheless. Equally as potent is Rogen, who takes a break of his typical comical shenanigans – and excels, supremely, especially in a blow-for-blow final showdown late in the film with
One of the main products of this movie that popped out to me was the stars. They all seemed to be great actors even though I only knew one of them. For example, I thought that Ian Michael Smith did a great job portraying Simon Birch. He made the movie cute and funny all at once. I also thought that Joseph Mazello did a great job portraying relatable feelings in the movie. You could tell by his facial expressions what his mood was. All the actors did a great job and I can’t pinpoint one of them who did worse than the
The supporting players do well, though, specifically the two villains. James Mason is fantastic as Phillip Vandamm, the chief antagonist. He brings the perfect amount of collected cool to the role, but also adds a touch of menace to the character. Martin Landau, in an early role, also does well as Leonard, Vandamm’s right hand man. He’s the more sinister of the two and conveys it well, but he is also charismatic in a mysterious sort of
When you watch a trailer for a movie you usually notice an actor or two that you have seen before in another movie. An example of this is the movie, The Heat. The two main actresses are, Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock, who do a phenomenal job in the bad-cop-good-cop role, but with a twist. Instead of the good-cop-bad-cop role being two male actors, it is done in this movie with two female cops who, in my opinion, do a better job than some of the male role films. The movie starts off with Sandra Bullock meeting Melissa McCarthy on a detective mission to stop a dangerous drug lord named Larkin. Sandra Bullock does an outstanding job of creating her character, Sarah Ashburn. She seems very innocent and sweet at the beginning, but throughout the movie she transforms into an outgoing and methodical detective. Another example of great acting is in the movie, White House Down. The movie stars Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx.
Each character is introduced only to be dropped shortly after. Johnny lee Miller and Chloe Moretz are reduced to walk on parts for most of the running time. Michelle Pfeiffer fares a little better but is not given much to do for all the screen time she gets. Poor Bella Heathcote , Her performance is fine but most of her performance must have ended up on the cutting room floor. She is supposedly the love of Barnabas 's life but she spends very little screen time with him. This only takes away any emotion from the climax because despite what is said throughout these two characters feel like complete strangers. All that leaves is the two stars of the show, Johnny Depp is his usual watchable self and he does well to keep his character likable given all the unlikable things he is asked to do. Eva Green is over the top and incredible psychotic has the lethal witch who refuses to accept the Barnabus will ever love
Steve Jobs' death in October 2011 provoked a remarkable outpouring of grief, prompting documentarian Alex Gibney to examine this "global wake." In the process, Gibney also questions our personal connection to the Apple founder, and to technology in general. Most of the material here has been covered already in the media, notably Walter Isaacson's best-selling biography. What's distinctive about Gibney's take is its overwhelmingly critical tone.
The drama critic, Charles Isherwood, starts off very pleased with the new cast of the show. He goes on to say, “Remarkably, they continue to secure performers who can both fill the (hefty) vocal and (less taxing) acting demands of the central roles,..” This means that Mr. Isherwood believes that the directors are filling the roles quite nicely. As someone
One actor that I thought was particularly strong was Thomas Toles who played John Dodge. Toles was able to convey great emotion in many different scenes that fit with his character and the way that Dodge was depressed but also still trying to find some kind of meaning in the various tasks that he picked up. Another aspect of Toles’ performance that I really enjoyed was his subtlety. He was able to convey different emotions without making them stand out right at first. For instance, near the beginning of the play when Dodge and Swanson are first getting to know each other, Toles adds in this element to his acting that makes you wonder if he’s interested in her romantically. At first I almost missed the romantic and flirty feelings that were going on between Dodge and Swanson. It wasn’t until they became more obvious, such as the scene at the sink where Swanson has her hand on Dodge’s, that I realized when I looked back I could see that Toles had been showing slight hints that he was indeed interested in her all throughout their scenes
Also appearing, Laurie Metcalf, Tracy Letts, Beanie Feldstein, Lucas Hedges, Timothée Chalamet, Jordan Rodrigues, Marielle Scott, Lois Smith, Stephen Henderson, Odeya Rush, making up a wonderful cast of characters among which I very much enjoyed spending some time with.
I will be judging my two favorite cast members, Ashley Bryant and Akron Watson. I will start with Mr. Watson. He plays Trevor, a Duran Duran obsessed stage manager. He was out there, and I loved it. His body was loose, and free whilst showing he did not care at all. Until, of course, he had to go onstage himself. His projection was normal, but what I loved most about his performance was his reaction time. It was awful. He’d miss a cue, or not follow the lines. He went on TINDER for crying out loud. But, all in all, he was the best. Of course his
Moving ahead, in 2001, Apple tastes a big success of iPod music player and becomes a leader in the electronic industry, dropping "computer" from its name and keeping on to release to iPod and iPhone. Steven has faced many problems in making apply company a big success each year step by step. He has followed many business partners but with each of them was an issue. As jobs overcome with the issues and give his hard efforts to make Apple a big name in the world. As a result, Apple Company is one of the best technology companies and had left a brand and benchmark of it in the mind of consumers and its rival company.
So in order for this to happen, Jobs wants the Macintosh demo to greet his audience with “Hello” as he wants to ease his audience and to show them that there is nothing to be feared of. Despite the presentation, during the scene with Lisa (Steve Jobs’ alleged daughter) many news outlets are talking about the major concerns of the Macintosh, mentioning about how lackluster and restrictive of a computer it is compared to other competitors on the market. Regardless, it has seem that afterwards, it was enough of a push for Apple and Steve Jobs to get the attention of millions across the globe, as shown with his more expensive looking clothes. In a room with a more up-to-date Macintosh, Jobs and his daughter Lisa are having a small quibble over trivial matter, maybe their relationship was a bit strained within the last 5 years since the release of the Macintosh. During a conversation with a long time friend of Jobs, Steve Wozniak talks about the strain between Jobs, the corporation Apple, and even the consumers
The costumes, make-up, and set are very impressive, but the casting choices are on point. For instance, the casting of Robin Williams as Mr. Keating adds a different flavour to the film. He is a funny, well-liked, and inspirational actor, so his presence makes the film very enjoyable and adds to the character of Mr.
“I believe life is an intelligent thing--that things aren 't random.” Steve Jobs’s noble thoughts have made huge differences in the world. Jobs was a living icon and a visionary example who made impossible things possible and used what he learned from education to discover a company that has over millions of users today, Apple Inc. Steve Jobs will be remembered for a handful of remarkable strengths that he left the world with. Steve spread the idea of having a vision to accomplish in life and showing determination to achieve a particular goal. He believed technology would change Apple and made the company into a new business. His leadership skills and determination took Apple to great heights. Although Steve Jobs has set an extraordinarily
This scene depicts Steve Jobs as a sometimes heartless but determined leader. He was willing to fire people without notice if
