In the book The Outsiders by S.E it’s more difficult living then than now. The main character in the book is Ponyboy, he is surrounded by gangs, fights and his friends Johnny, Soda-pop, Darry and Dally. All these characters are affected by who they are around so if they see someone they don’t like they are going to beat them up. One of the characters in the group is Johnny he is the quiet and shy one. In the book Ponyboy talks about Johnny and says “He is like a little puppy that has been kicked too many times,” He is saying that he is defenceless, gets abused and beat up a lot. Johnny can not defend himself. Johnny does not have the guts to stick up for himself and fight back against the Socs. Johnny is the kid who none of the gang can mess
