Friends was filmed and aired in the 90’s and is still played today. The clothing worn in the show was time period relevant. The characters wore clothes that was stylish and hip in the 90’s. The clothes resembled what day to day people was wearing in that time. From high waisted pants/shorts, oversized or even shrunken sweaters, floral maxi skirts, to sleeve-less denim vests. Each character had their own sense of style that represented their personality. Phoebe that’s a wild, open spirit musician is seen to wear very flowy dresses/skirts and mismatching prints with a lot of color. Joey, another main character of Friends is a good looking, promiscuous actor. He’s seen throughout season one wearing his famous black leather jacket, turtle neck sweaters, and buttoned up long sleeve shirts. In 2015 some of the styles and clothes that were worn in the 90’s, are actually still worn today! High-waisted pants/shorts, chokers, and crop tops are just a few of the trends from Friends that are still being worn
As foolish as that comes across as, Gabler asserts that the viewers make as if the characters are their friends in in order to feel good about themselves and not overthink about their alienation (357). This is the ultimate relationship; the characters are always close by; there is no turmoil; and they are very amusing. Although there is no interaction, the viewer still is under the impression that the characters are their friends. This relationship is really comparable to social media because people may never truly chat with their “friends” but they are able to “interact” through a screen. A friend from a television show may appear to be like the best relationship, but the ones that occur between the onscreen characters is indeed better.
By definition a friend is a person who provides assistance and support. We have different groups of friends for different purposes in our lives. Although there are many different categories of friends, Marion Winik author of “What are Friends For?” mentions that some of the more common groups consist of the faraway, work, family, and former friends (132). We keep our friends because we value their loyalty, communication, support, and dependability.

In Full House there is a scene in one episode where the family’s dog, Comet, ran away and went missing for several hours, throughout the episode there are short messages about not giving up and believing that if Comet loves them he will come back. At the end of the episode comet finally appears at night when the family is huddled around in the backyard hoping to eventually find they’re dog and just when they decide to go in, Comet comes running up and barking in excitement to find all his family in one area celebrating his return. In Friends throughout the different seasons, Monica, Joey, Rachel, Ross, and Chandler are usually caught up with relationships. To give an example of just how much drama goes on in this show, Joey has been in a relationship with Rachel, Rachel has been in a relationship with ross, Phoebe has been in a relationship with Joey and Chandler gets married to Monica after an on and off
The novel Lord of the Flies was written by William Golding. Golding wanted the story to be about a group of young boys whose plane crashed on an island, trying to escape war. The whole concept of this was so that he can show what a group of people can become given a set of inflicting conflicts that can change them for better or for worst. He gives great detail on how they go from sane to insane in a matter of time and turn into someone completely different all together. One of the boys on the island is named Simon. Simon’s personality and traits are similar to Jesus Christ because they both posse a form of insight, spirituality, and compassion.
Joyce Carol Oates’s“Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” is a story of a young fifteen-year-old girl named Connie. She was judged by her family members and was conceited in regards to her outward appearance. Since Connie was always held to high standards at home, she eventually became a rebellious teenager. “Everything about her had two sides to it, one for home and one for anywhere that was not home (Oates, 507).” On a particular Sunday, Connie’s parents and sister were going to a barbecue, Connie did not want to attend the family gathering and stayed home. Shortly after, two teenage boys named Arnold Friend and Ellie, showed up at her house. Arnold Friend begins telling Connie about facts that only she is aware of. Furthermore, Connie

Friendship has been seen to be a key component in the development of characters. Directors and authors portray friends as positive influences on characters. Through the friendships experienced by both Bilbo and Sherlock new characteristics arise such as the development of emotions and courage.
The first category, the occasional friends, encompasses three friend types. The first one is the grenade. This type of friend is usually annoying and tough to be around but they serve a critical purpose. They make you look better by comparison. Slightly better than the grenade, is the jerk with the heart of gold. Like the grenade they are generally annoying but unlike the grenade they are genuin...
My personal definition of "friendship" is a feeling or emotion expressed in such a way that another feels wanted and important, a relationship between a person or persons where everyone has some companion to talk to when their in need of one. I would define friends as people whom you can have several types of relations with and feel several emotions for that person. Someone that one might go to in time of need. However, friendships differ between people. For example, the friendship that someone may have between them and their parents would be different than the friendship they might have with someone their age. There are many different friendships that people have. Friendships can exist between best friends, friends, lovers, children, parents, siblings, and many more. All of these differ in some way.
When you spend time with friends you will notice that each one has a special personality that is different from anyone else. Friends have different traits and characteristics that create their individual personalities. For example, a good friend will show signs of a sense of humor, great advice, and honesty. Friends are very important to have in our lives because they are the backbone and support system when we face obstacles that are tough in our lives. Furthermore, friends are always there to love and comfort us through those hard times; showing their respect, honesty, loyalty, and care. There are three major types of friends, acquaintances, social friends, and best friends. Individuals inside of these major types has their own characteristics
Friendships are based on a completely different set of structural relationships to those with parents. They are more symmetrical and involve sharing and exchange. Friendships are important to young children but there is a change at the beginning of adolescence -- a move to intimacy that includes the development of a more exclusive focus, a willingness to talk about oneself and to share problems and advice. Friends tell one another just about everything that is going on in each other's lives... Friends literally reason together in order to organise experience and to define themselves as persons.
On a conscious level, we rarely spend much time actually thinking about and classifying our friends. However, since I was a small child, my mother taught me to recognize and appreciate various types of friends. I have discovered that there are three different types of friends. I group them according to how well I know them and how well they know me. We encounter each type of friend everyday, whether in school, home, or at the gym. First, there are the "pest friends"- general acquaintances. Next, there are "guest friends"- social partners. Lastly, we have "best friends"- our true friends.
Friendship is a relationship that all the individuals can create by themselves. Though it is not a god gifted relationship like that of the relationship of a mother, father, sister, brother or any of the other family but still it is one of the best relations an individual can possess. People who have true friends consider themselves as the luckiest individuals on earth.
Growing up in school you have your friends in 1st, then in Jr. High, and then when you get to high school you might not even know or see your friends from 1st grade anymore. For the few people who’s had a friend from 1st grade till college I think that someone they need to hold on to because if they stuck with you through all them year I know they’re there for the right reason and there not just there for a season. As Elizabeth Dunphy says, “It’s the little things that matter, that add up in the end, with the priceless thrilling magic found only in a friend.”
In life we come across many people. Some will hate us while others will adore us. The ones who hate us can be referred to as enemies and the ones who show us adoration are referred to as friends. There are three types of friends. They are the aquaintinces we make in school, the friends we loose as one grows, and best friends who may stray, but never too far away.
