“We are who we choose to be.” -Green Goblin
I chose the quote “We are who we choose to be.” which was stated by the Green Goblin in the movie Spiderman. It is important to live by this quote because you can’t let other people tell you who you are going to be. People need to b who they want to be. It is only your decision, not anyone else's. Here are a few people who i think live by this quote.
The first person that lives by this quote is Bruce Jenner. He chose to become Caitlyn Jenner. She knew people wouldn’t approve of her decisions but the choice was up to her. Research showed, Jenner was uncomfortable being a man (The Full Story). No one knew about Jenner wanting to become a woman. He kept his feelings about being a woman hidden.

Bruce would only showed his womanly side when he was alone. Another source stated that in high school, Jenner secretly wore pantyhose and women's panties underneath his athletic uniforms. He wanted to feel the sensation of his womanly side (Caitlyn Jenner American). He was slowly transitioning into a woman even though nobody knew. The thought of what other people would think about him made him stop transitioning (The Full Story). In the end he didn't care what others would think about him. He transitioned into a woman for himself, not for the attention of others. It wasn't until the beginning of this year that he fully transitioned into Caitlyn. Another person who lives by this quote is Miley Cyrus. Miley knew from the start that she wanted to be different. In an interview she once stated “I don’t want to blend in with everyone” (Cyrus). She started becoming who she wanted when she was younger. A source stated that in may of 2008, she legally changed her name to Miley Ray Cyrus(Cyrus,Miley). This was the first step of her transition to follow her dreams. Even though Miley got the role of Hannah Montana, she wasn’t completely satisfied (Miley Cyrus 1992-). A final source said that Miley wanted to show off her own music to (Miley Cyrus 1992-). Everyone already knew Hannah, and Miley Stewart, but she wanted people to know her as Miley Cyrus to. As for Miley today, she is still becoming who she wants to be. The last person who i believes lives by this quote is Jennifer McKernon.
Jennifer has always wanted to b a nurse. Jennifer stated that she chose to be someone who cares for and supports others. She said that everyone deserves to have someone to look out for them (Mckernon). She has been studying hard to become a nurse to help more people. She is still a very supporting mother as well. There were many people supporting her decision. The main person supporting her was her mother. Jennifer stated the her mom was always there for her. She even helped her get into school for the nursing (Mckernon). Jennifer also encourages others to become who they want to be. “Advice that i would give to someone who is choosing to live by this quote, would be to stay strong” (Mckernon). As of now she is supporting her five children and their decisions to become who they are.
Other people who i think live by this quote would be gay citizens. Many children in schools who are gay are being bullied. Adults are also being criticized for choosing to be with same sex. Those people don’t change how they are just because people tell them it’s a sin. Or because people criticize them everyday. Being gay isn’t really a choice, people can’t help who they find attractive whether it be same sex or opposite sex.
As you can see, many people live by this quote. Don't let go of who you want to be just because someone else doesn't approve. How you live your life is not up to anyone but yourself. All that matters is that you are happy, because you’re going to be the one who is living your life. Be who you choose to
be!
“If I could be anything but what I am, I would be tomorrow. If I could be what my father wants me to be, then maybe I could stay for that, too. If I could be what you want me to be, I’d want to stay. But I am what I am, and all I want is freedom.”
...t?” (Butler Page 240). A human life is a human life. We are all made the same way and we all of the ability to make choices, we have an ability to learn, and to adjust to uncomfortable situations in order to maintain a mindset without prejudice. Society is as a whole is slowly learning this aspect of acceptance of gays, lesbians, and transgendered people. Society is slowly creating laws for people of these sexual preferences in order to protect them.
The quote itself can be translated into, an everyday person does not want to be happy and ambition. That person will settle with what will keep them alive. I agree with this quote for a few reasons. To begin, the people in today’s
Through a young man’s eye we see how he views life and what is important to him and his reactions to the important life obstacles. Dexter is the main character we meet him young, he works at a golf course that he caddies for. We also meet someone important to the story as well who is young named Judy Jones. Judy is the girl of Dexter’s dreams and will be awhile down the story. Dexter has three desires that he thinks about through the whole book and they are love, happiness and, wealth. Dexter is put through these obstacles throughout the whole book and it has shaped his choices and feelings.
...es that we are all unique in our own way and at some point will realize our potential and try to achieve more not that our genes made us act the way we do.
“Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one’s definition of your life, but define yourself” (Harvey Fierstein). This quote has various different meanings and ways to perceive it. But, the most important meaning of this quote is to live your life in only the way that will make you happiest, and don’t ever let anyone stop you. Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, Amelia Earhart and Dr. Jennifer Welter never let anyone stand in the way and followed their dreams, becoming some very influential females in society.
¨ Show people who you are on the inside, not the copy of someone else that’s on the outside ¨ No one has heard this quote before, but it is telling everyone to be themselves and not be ashamed who they really are not the copy you have made over the years. People in our generation tend to believe that kids and teens are not being true to themselves and just wanting to be one within the crowd.
that it is up to the individual person to make the right choice and to
For this assignment I had the pleasure sitting down with Emily Petermeier and getting an insight on what the real nursing world is like. Emily graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing in May 2015, and got a job at Fairview East Bank Hospital. This interview really helped me understand what it is like to be a new nurse and the dedication that I have to have going through nursing school and throughout my career. In the interview you will see the perspective of Emily’s endeavors after college and insight for future nurses or nursing students.
Why does one choose a career in nursing? There are usually several reason one may choose to become a nurse; however, nursing is one of those professions that often chooses the person rather than the other way around. Nursing is a calling, a mission, and a life’s work. It is a culmination of compassion, service, knowledge, teamwork, integrity, and perseverance. While it is true that one may receive the title “Registered Nurse” by going to school and passing an exam, this author believes nursing is something that lives inside a person; it is an inherent desire to heal, protect, advocate, and serve.
These lessons and traits I have taught myself, have helped me become a better person with a dependable future. Forgive all who wrong you, love your family and friends, but love your enemies more. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Remember that obtaining perfection is impossible in your life on earth and remember that you show who you are through your actions, not what you look like. Be grateful of your current state; you are alive and can change the world and all who inhabit it through your actions and words. Help, give, and pray for the less fortunate. “If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.”-Jesus Christ.
Secondly, this quote has lifelike values attributed to it. In everyday life, one must go through countless decisions, many of which are affected by the individuals limit to how much his conscience can bare. For example if an individual cannot stand the thought of work on an evening, that individual might strive to accomplish all tasks before the evening.
quote: "For the secret of man's being is not only to live... but to live for something
This quote has made a vital impact on my outlook and understanding of life. As embarrassing as it is for me to admit, it used to distress me when I thought of growing older and the changes I will have to make when age dawns upon me. perfection seems to exist as an illusion that conceals reality; made true only by our ignorance to deception. Billboards gracing striking models showcase covetous unblemished skin, when in reality they are airbrushed, deceitfully perfected. However, we still find ourselves buying the showcased product, with visions of being ‘perfect’ floating in our minds; we do everything in order to make our fantasies come true without truly knowing, seeing, or accepting our self-limits and most of the time, our false expectations are crushed.
At the age of 36, mom decided to return back to college to obtain her nursing degree. This wasn’t a hard decision for her to make. The April before she enrolled in school my great grandmother passed away. This major dilemma played a major role in mom’s returning back to school. She had taken care of my great grandmother for months before she passed away, and decided that she wanted to make an impact on the lives of geriatrics.
