There are those of the thought that helping the bully who is the source of all the trouble is the proper course of action. There has been so much time and literature spent on helping the victim when not much thought or discussion is given to trying to target the bully his or herself. Sometimes it is easier to just treat the symptoms and not the problem. The bully is the problem and maybe if time is spent to try to change his or her behavior that might make the lives of everyone else that surrounds this person a lot better and ironically the bully his or herself will probably have a better life as well. This line of thinking is the concept that should be tried first in my opinion. If we recognize the bully as a root problem then we can target this situation by pulling up the root and planting a new flower. How do we do this? How do we get at this bully and make him or her stop their behavior? We will discuss this in the next few paragraphs. If we identify this person as a bully we have to have some type of method some type of strategy to get this person. Their behavior. The first t...
To know how to prevent bullying, it’s important to note when these actions first become visible. It can be seen that bullying occurs most often in schools, then at work places. It is known that many schools stress and make efforts to stop bullying because younger kids are more susceptible to bullying. They have more difficulty defending themselves. However, this is not always the case. For example, “[…] the Columbine school shooting tragedy - highlight the serious and sometime deadly consequences of bullying behavior” (American Physiological Association). The teens who were involved in the shootings were bullied and decided to take revenge which led to the killing and injures of many people. In order to prevent further problems related to bullying, it’s important to spread the word. It’s true that bullying is already commonly known, but the health effects to it and especially the genetic effects are not. Spreading these ideas around might just bring in light for many to take serious action because of the implications it has to not just the ones being bullied, but also to the future generations to come. Although bullying may never actually be gone, these acts to prevent it will help lower and limit the amount of
Bullying is when a person or group frequently harms someone who is weaker or more vulnerable then themselves. They do this by means of physical, verbal, or mental abuse. Bullies can be male, female, young or old. The nature of a bully depends on many factors such as sex, age, and past experiences. Depending on the nature of the bully, their actions can have many negative effects on others. Bullies display many characteristics such as aggression, rivalry, and competitive behavior. Bullying occurs in many different places, a good example is in the novel The Lord of the Flies. Jack, the antagonist in this novel, displays many characteristics of a bully. Many children have been victimized by the terrible acts of bullies.
Though taking immediate action is thought to be the only way to help, other methods can be used to make a difference. For example, I could report the issue of bullying to a person in an authoritative role, such as a counselor, professor, or administrator. These individuals have been trained to handle situations such as this, and most likely have more information about the students involved. Choosing this method would ensure that the conflict is resolved professionally. Another method would be to focus on the person being attacked. The effect that kindness can have on hurting people is remarkable. Befriending the individual would enhance my ability to stand up for him or her in the

In 1992 a tragedy happened which we call the Los Angeles riots. You might ask why did there become riots? Well, it all started with a male named Rodney King. He was severely beaten by four white officers by the name of Stacey C. Koon, Theodore J. Briseno, Timothy E. Wind and Officer Laurence Powell. Only two of the four were found guilty.
Bullies appear in all shapes and sizes. There is not a specific physical trait that they all carry. Although, mentally and emotionally bullies might be extremely similar. Most of the time, there is some type of deep insecurity within the bully that causes them to push it onto another person. A child or teen that does bully others are known to also be engaged in other various harmful activities. They are more likely to use drugs or alcohol and tend to engage in sexual activities earlier than the norm. A bully can be someone that is popular and has a high social status. This causes them to want to establish dominance and a position above everyone else. For example, the movie Mean Girls deals with this type of conflict. A character in this movie named Regina George made a "Burn Book" to establish her dominance. This book showcased gossip and rumors about students and teachers who attended her high school. A bully could also be someone who is isolated and deals with a great amount of low self-esteem. This still cau...
There is an exceptional amount of religions in the world that have contrasting and varied ideals and concepts. However, there are some common traits that the religions of differing ideologies, as in western and eastern thinking, share. One of those traits that can be found in almost every religion is a trait that people choose to call “The Golden Rule”. The basic concept of the Golden Rule is that you should treat others in the same fashion that you would want them to treat you. Even though it is a more moral and ethical aspect, it is still prominent in very spiritual religions. Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, and Confucianism all have their own ways of portraying the message of the Golden Rule. Islam is often a misunderstood religion by our
Author Lucy P. Marcus tells us in this article that companies have forgotten the biggest rule a rule, if you asked a toddler they would be able to tell you it. They have forgotten the golden rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” She points out companies and people directly and shows us what they have done in the last few years that goes against the rule. Some examples being Donald Trump and the company Theranos and how they disrespected others and are willing to come out and say it. Personally, I believe that the golden rule has been dragged through the dirt and spit on by big business people. For example, taxes are what keeps our schools going, they are what keeps people with disabilities preventing them from working

Before educators can even discuss how they would teach empathy to their students, we must parse understand what the word empathy actually needs. The word empathy basically deals with our feelings and emotions. That's what it means to me anyway. Empathy must first be taught to the bystander who may actually be witnessing a victim being bullied by another student. We must teach students that it is okay to let an adult know when they are witnessing bullying. When students are being bullied they are actually being hurt emotionally you see, you don't actually have to do physical harm to a person in order to hurt them. I must say that from studying this course certain aspects are starting to fall together in an undeniable bond. For example, students must understand that tattling is not the same thing as being a whistleblower which is an adult term we like to say informing the authorities.
Every bully has different characteristics. As a result there’s no clear scheme or strategy that can stop the problem from ever occurring. By being able to spot deal with and offer long term bullying support you’ve targeted bullying at all junctures. Bullying can be taking care of no kid or teen needs to worry about being bullied when entering a school or entering social media sites. Although bullying continues to be an issue in our society, but mainly in schools, all we can do is keep educating kids on what is right and wrong, letting them know the consequences of their actions both to its victim and to themselves. Also, parents can be more enlightened on how to raise their kids in healthier way so that they do not grow up seeking for attention or power in the wrong ways.
A bully can be defined in several ways and this term is sometimes exaggerated. However, according to the Miriam-Webster Dictionary, a bully is defined as “one habitually cruel to others who are weaker” and bullying is defined as “to cause (someone) to do something by making threats or insults or by using force”. These are the formal definitions of the term, but the def...
However, these common problems cause the victim to have a difficult life as they grow up and need psychological help. But the bullies will grow up to become troubled adults to commit unthinkable crimes or not getting any job offers plus no college/university would accept them. Bolton and Graeve both stated that “Bullies generally are strong, confident, and aggressive, much more so than their victims, who, by comparison, tend to be weak, timid, and nonassertive” (20). The victims sometimes can turn from being bullied to becoming a bully. The solutions to these problems are to ensure the quality of preventing bully attacks on students before they strike. The importance of preventing bullying is to make student feel safe , surrounding themselves around respectful people and have a stable well-being. Hence, the victims gain high self-esteem and have control over their lives. Students who bullies others need to seek a psychologist to examine their anger, especially making them calm and
Problems usually have solutions. Solutions could be extremely easy to find, or the process of finding one could be problematic. One worldly issue that does not have a solution yet is bullying. Bullying is present in schools world-wide, and it has been this way since there have been schools. This horrible act is accepted as part of life. People are used to bullying, that it almost seems normal. This should not be the case. Bullying is a horrific act that needs to be stopped, but is that possible? Three specific ways people have proposed to stop bullying is to criminalize bully in an attempt to deter any further bullying, to assign bullies student mentors in order to have someone guide them, or to force school or parental figures to be more active in trying to prevent bullying. Each of these methods has its advantages and disadvantages, but which is the best method to effectively stop bullying?
