The concepts of change and development come up frequently in the fields of business, technology, education, sociology, psychology, and many other fields. These concepts may appear to be the same, or similar, but they are very different concepts.

What is change? Change may be defined as a shift in someone’s perspective on a certain topic that causes their viewpoint and actions to differ. One example of change can be seen in the Disney movie, Moana. In the beginning of the movie, Moana’s father, Chief Tui, is so opposed to the thought of Moana going “beyond the reef” and into the ocean due to an incident where he lost his childhood best friend. He used to love the ocean and went beyond the reef everyday until he lost his friend. However, once Moana did this without his permission and saved their island of Motunui, he changed his perspective and their tribe became voyagers again. Change is a word that I have constantly heard throughout my high school years. It is a transformation through which everyone goes whether it's for the better or for the worse. For me the meaning and value of change has helped me to focus on the goals I have to accomplish. For others, it is simply just a phase we go through. All of us here have been able to learn and develop from our changes to be come a better and successful person.
Reform is essentially a type of change. Change is scary, but changes are successful through the weaving of submission, acceptance, and patience.
Development is the act or process of growth of humans throughout the lifespan, improving quality of life and expanding real freedom that people enjoy. Development is a process of extending the true opportunities and real freedom that people revel in. Concentrating on human opportunities and freedom appears differently with relation to narrower perspectives of improvement and development. For example, identifying development with the advancement of gross national product, or with industrialization, or with the rise in personal incomes, or with the ascent in particular livelihoods, or with technological advancement or social modernization.
Change is the only constant in life. And therefore it should be understood as part of a continuing work in progress that calls for a much broader canvas that seeks out competing voices, and works with the resulting ambiguities, contradictions and tensions of messy reality (Graetz, F. & Smith, A., 2010). In this submission I try to show that organizational change is majorly based on the environment surrounding it much more than the desire of the members or change agents working in that organization. This view diverts from that of Lippitt, (1958) who suggests that implementing planned organizational changes successfully depends on premeditated interventions intended to modify the functioning of an organization. It also diverts from the traditional approaches to organizational change that generally follow a linear, rational model in which the focus is on controllability under the stewardship of a strong leader or ‘guiding coalition (Collis, 1998). In this discussion therefore, comparison made between the different philosophies of change and I try to show that successful change implantation largely depends on an organizations appreciation of what goes on around it rather than what they have planned as a strategic direction.
My whole life, I have been presented to a single element called change. Change occurs in many different forms and is carried out in many different ways. However, just recently, I have come to the realization that change can be the deepest of all subjects. I always assumed that change occured when you moved to a new town or when you lost someone close to you. Those are elements to change, yes, but change doesn't have to occur over a single dramatic event. It can just happen overnight when your brain determines it's time to do something different.
Development is the process of growing, forming or creating into something slightly more advanced than before. Development starts during conception and ends during death. Development consists of three developmental domains which are, physical development, cognitive development, and psychosocial development. However, ‘the bottom line is that organizational change is difficult because management systems are design and people are rewarded for stability’ (Lawler, E.E. & Worley, C.G. 2006, p.11).
