Change can be a very scary thought to a lot of people. Many of us like things to stay just the way they are forever. Ralph Waldo Emerson explained in his quote that unless we experience new things and challenges, we will never grow as an individual. He does not mean physically of course, but mentally our minds will not be up to facing new challenges that life throws at us. I agree with this quote because stepping outside of your comfort zone is good, learning to do new things and increasing your skills helps you throughout life, and everybody needs some change in their life. Stepping outside of your comfort zone is something that many people do not like. The fear of failing takes over and they would rather keep doing the same thing that they do everyday. Soccer players need to practice kicking and head butting which can sometimes feel uncomfortable, but it increases your skills for the game. Sometimes stepping outside of your comfort zone really helps you because you feel more accomplished and can take on more trials with the new skills you have developed. Learning new things and increasing your skills helps you throughout life. Whether its at a new job, or at school, your skills are what help you stand out as a person. Emerson's quote is so true because we need to learn more and try new things that we haven't already mastered. Learning an instrument is a very good skill to have. Not only does it increase your skills, but it also requires you to step outside your comfort zone. When I was learning guitar, I would get so frustrated because I could not remember all the chords or move my fingers fast enough. But with a lot of practice and hard work, I finally learned it and can now play very well. This skill that I developed at a young age helped me be able to relate to many people and also made my family very happy. Discovering new talents is a wonderful thing, but you have to be willing to try and succeed even if it seems
