Global Climate Change Essay
Climate and Weather are both conditions of our atmosphere. Weather is a condition over short period of time, the degrees, if it’s raining, snowing, windy, etc. and climate is over long period of time, if you live in a more tropical place it would be more wet, humid, and hot. Climate is basically what the weather usually is the normal conditions in a place, a longer term of the average weather. Depending on where you live will determine what the climate is there and what kind of weather you will usually have and now sense there’s global warming and the colder places are getting warmer, warmer places are getting a blast of cold and polar ice caps are melting. So now It’s probably different climate and weather for many, many places than it was just four or five years ago. For examples If you live down south near the equator where it’s hot, like in Tampa, Florida your climate is humid and hot most the year and temperatures in the high 80’s and high 90’s. But if you live somewhere more up north closer to the north pole, like in Manchester, England it’s usually cold and raining most the year with temperatures of high 40’s and mid 60’s.
Global warming and climate change are not the same thing. All though a lot of newspapers, magazines and commercials use them so much it’s as if they were and many people believe that they are. Global warming actually is when the earth loses more energy than it’s suppose to gain. The Climate uses that energy that earth receives and the energy that is radiated away from the earth. When it is balanced correctly then the climate is more normally how it is and more stable. Climate change is a long period of a places average weather like said in the above sentences, but also it s...

Sea levels are also affected by global temperature change. Because the polar ice caps are melting and that’s causing more water to be on earth and causing our sea levels to rise. Our Sea levels have been rising and have risen 4 inches within the last century. Which causes less land for us because in will be overtaken by new water rising from the ice melting away. We’d have to go to higher grounds, the less the land the less people we can have. Ocean animals will be harmed when the cold water comes down if they're not suppose to be in cold water and cold water animals will be harmed because they're not suppose to be in warmer waters. The polar bears and other arctic animals will become extinct once there habitat is gone. Tectonic plates are affected too it doesn’t only move land but also the sea. It can cause tsunamis and earthquakes.
Climate change describes the changes that are happening to the planet in different countries or regions (NASA, n.d.). Climate change is caused by global warming,
Earth’s average temperature has increased about 0.8 degrees Celsius since 1880 and another degree could cause even more problems than there already are. Climate change is an important issue to be aware of because it is real and it affects you and the things around you each and every day. Every day animals lose habitats and die because climate change caused there home to burn, or their food sources started to deplete, etc. Along with these, more and more CO2 is being released into the air due to wildfires burning which is causing the atmosphere to heat even more. With the temperature increasing the oceans will become warmer and evaporation and rainfall patterns will change which will affect humans and animals, because we all work together in a system. There are many consequences of climate change like human health issues, and more animals becoming endangered, but the most important consequence is the rising amounts of wildfires.
According to Erik Conway of NASA, “Global warming refers to surface temperature increases, while climate change includes global warming and everything else that increasing greenhouse gas amounts will affect” (Conway). Recently the United States has experienced a drop in temperature. This past weekend I was walking with a friend. With nothing to talk about, the awkward silence was finally filled with a comment on the weather. He said, “It’s so incredibly cold! So much for global warming!!” What my friend, nor I at the beginning of the semester, did not understand was that “temperature change itself isn’t the most severe effect of changing climate. Changes to precipitation patterns and sea level are likely to have much greater human impact than the higher temperatures alone” (Conway). Thankfully the national media has begun to increasingly reference the more scientifically significant term: climate change.
Climate change is a long term change in the earth’s climate. Climate change is attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels. There are 328,000,000 cubic miles of seawater on the planet, covering approximately 71 percent of the earth's surface. Ninety-seven percent of all water is in the oceans. The other three percent is divided amongst the two percent ice and one percent fresh water. Making earth’s waters composed mostly of salt water. Salt water covers most of our planet indicating climate change to have a giant impact on our oceans. Taking a closer look at the ocean and our water in general can reveal several clues to the greater effects of climate change and what other ways climate change can affect our planet. (2)
Climate change is when the climate is changing dramatically in time and that is caused by the greenhouse effect . greenhouse effect is when the fossil fuel is burned by humans to produces energy and when fossil fuel is burned it produces CO2 then the CO2 travels to the atmosphere and then more CO2 builds up in the atmosphere and that makes a barrier that traps the sunlight and that’s called the greenhouse effect. Usually, the sunlight stays in the earth's atmosphere for a while but then it escapes but by having more Greenhouse gases it traps it and then
Global warming is the term used to describe a gradual increase in the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and its oceans, a change that is believed to be permanently changing the Earth's climate. While it changes the Earth’s climate it takes away different species that we depend on and some which other species depend on and also effect (in a bad way) the environment in which we live and can cause permanent damages to humans, animals, plant which will change the whole chain of ecosystem.
Climate change is a long-term change in regional or global climate patterns. From the mid twentieth century to now, it has mostly been about a significant increase in average global temperatures. Climate change is a major issue in the world today, and a lot of people feel very differently about the cause of it. The common argument about it is whether climate change is a natural occurrence or if the recent increase in temperatures is because of humans. Climate change is a natural cycle in the Earth’s weather. Before humans started burning fossil fuels, there were still weather cycles on Earth that were as hot or hotter than what it is now. In fact, Earth’s weather now, is on pace with the previous weather patterns in history. Human emitted
Climate change is evidenced through shifts in the weather patterns such as winds, humidity and temperatures over certain durations. Natural climate changes occur less frequently and they are triggered by factors related geographical aspects as well as solar radiation. The earth’s movement on the orbit triggers changes in climate causing some areas to have higher temperatures than usual while others are significantly cold depending on the position of the earth on the orbit. The heat form the sun causes changes on the stratospheric ozone and it increases the amount of greenhouse gases. Heat from the oceanic crust also contributes to warming as a result of episodic hydrothermal venting (Liao & Sandeberg, 2012). Volcanic activity also causes a release of certain elements that may block the sun and also contribute to increase greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
Lots of people do not know what global warming is. People are also unaware what is causing it and how it can be prevented. Global warming is caused by greenhouse gases that we create and release into the atmosphere. Robert Royal, a scientist said,” it is mostly caused by carbon dioxide in our atmosphere.”Carbon dioxide is one of the dangerous greenhouse gases(Royal,Robert page 24). Global warming for the most part is a very bad and dangerous event and it needs to stop for humans and other animal species to survive , but some people think it is a good thing for our planet. James S. Robbin a scientist that studies the earth's atmosphere said , “ that it can be beneficial in ways (Robbin S. James page 33).” Global warming is really a damaging thing and is very dangerous. It is hurting our planet , but is killing it slowly and needs to stop for humans to survive.
Many people get climate change and weather confused. Weather is the changes we see and feel outside every single day. For example, it might rain one day and be sunny the next. Climate change is a change in the usual weather found in a place. This can include how much rain a place gets, the temperature of the place etc. There are many things
Climate Change is any substantial change in climate that lasts for an extended period of time. One contributor to current climate change is global warming, which is an increase in Earth’s average temperature. Plants and animal species throughout the world are being affected by rising temperatures. Many plants are flowering earlier now than they once did; animals, such as the yellowbellied marmot, are emerging from hibernation earlier; and many bird and butterfly species are migrating north and breeding earlier in the spring than they did a few decades ago, all because of slight changes in temperature cues. (Shuster)
According to the Canada’s Action on Climate Change, Climate change is a long-term shift in weather conditions identified by changes in temperature, precipitation, winds, and other indicators. Climate change can involve both changes in average conditions and changes in variability, including, for example, extreme events. Climate change is one of the biggest crisis in the earth. It will cause a huge damage to the eco-system and human. We are the victims of the climate change. However, we are the one who cause the climate change.
The earth is a complex system, which continues to evolve and change. Climate change and global warming are currently popular in the political agenda. But what does “climate” really mean? The difference between weather and climate can be conveyed in a single sentence: “Climate is what you expect; weather is what you get.” Based on research of the geologic record, we know that climate change has happened throughout Earth's history and at present, ever-increasing evidence points to the roles that humans play in altering Earth systems. The Earth and its atmosphere receive heat energy from the sun; the atmospheric heat budget of the Earth depends on the balance between incoming solar radiation and outgoing radiation from the planet; which has been constant over the last few thousand years. However present evidence seems to suggest that the recent increase in temperature has been brought about by pollution of the atmosphere, in particular the release of huge amounts of carbon dioxide, mostly through Anthropogenic Forcing (human activity) and other various internal and external factors. Climate change is caused due to the release of few carbon compounds into the atmosphere, which drastically brought the weather changes all over the world. Climate change is not confined to a single region. It has become an important issue all over the world for the past few years.
