Having great communication skills helps obstetrician be able to clearly have a conversation with a patient making it easier for them to collect medical history among other important detail. Without great communicating skill the doctor might not know how to properly diagnose a patient and instead of helping them out they actually might be hurting them. When an obstetrician has good people skill it makes it easier to understand people 's differences and abilities from all sorts of backgrounds. Having terrible bedside manners has actually been proven to affect a patient 's health by not fully trusting the doctor. I have been saving my 4-H money for college this whole time. I am not Entitled to anything my parents have worked for, only to what I
I know that through my hard work and dedication I can make my goals a reality. However, it may not be possible without these Scholarships. I am hoping that through the help of scholarships I will be able to achieve all my goals in a timely
In a world where most college freshmen do not graduate or dropout, i feel like it would mean to much more to me to graduate and be able to say I got my degree. studies have said that half of freshman will not complete there degree, another study said that 25% of freshmen will change their major before they finish their sophomore year. If i was given this scholarship money it would put me in a place where hopefully I won't become just another statistic. Another reason a college degree is important for me to achieve is so that i will be respected in my work industry of choice. When you are in a place of work, there is always someone who everyone looks up to because they know the most about certain things, but more often than not that person has the highest degree in his or her field. If I was awarded this scholarship i would be more capable of being that person because i would not have to worry about leaving school to figure out how I will pay off my

I am interested in pursuing a career in being an Obstetric nurse. An obstetric nurse helps doctors in administering care for women during pregnancies and childbirth. There are many types of duties performed by an obstetric nurse such as assisting a patient, where you help put soon-to-be mothers at ease, and also by taking her vital signs and listening to her heart and lungs. It is also important that you are friendly and encouraging and show that warm and loving bedside manner. Other duties like direct patient care involves a lot of responsibilities for nurses. In direct patient care, the nurses help prepare the patients before the delivery by taking gynecological tests and delivery-related screenings and
As I sat in the Library reading “ What to Expect When Expecting” , I could see the old lady walk by out of my peripheral and stare at me with disdain. I laugh to myself because she probably thinks I am another pregnant teen in DC with out a cause. However, I am not at all the pregnant teen but the future OB/GYN who reads pregnancy/baby books in her spare time for fun. Weird I know, but that is why I plan to apply to UMW’S biology/premed program.
Coming from a family with no college education, a college degree has always been a lifetime goal and dream of mine. My mom and dad have worked in furniture factories since their graduation from high school, and I have seen their personal struggles, and it has only pushed me harder to want to attend college. My parents have always worked hard to bless me with all they could, but paying for college is out of their control, therefore I am heavily relying on scholarships. Receiving the Phil Jones Memorial Scholarship would mean everything to me and would be a tremendous help for me while at ICC and UMMC. If I could win this scholarship, it would help me achieve the goal of staying away from student loans and debt.

These will help to make the patients feel at ease with their doctor and establish a trusting relationship if they feel that their doctor sinceraly cares about their health and well being. The number of hours that an OB/GYN may vary each week, hence this is not a standard, Monday through Friday, nine to five job. Being a first generation student, my parents always emphasized the importance of school and the many opportunities I have, that they never had growing up. I remember looking at some universities’ tuitions my sophomore year and wondered, “how can anyone afford to pay this much?” Although at first just the thought of college scared me, I knew I couldn’t accomplish anything, much less pay for college, being scared. Listening to my parents’ advice, I decided to embrace the opportunities I was given, including this scholarship. Even though, applying does not guarantee me this scholarship or any for that matter, it is a risk I am willing to take and an opportunity I am not willing to
An obstetrician is one thing, and a gynecologist is another. The job is combined together, but the two branches can be worked separately. An obstetrician is a physician who focuses and is trained in the management of pregnancy, labor, and pueperium (the period following childbirth). A physician who has specialized and trained in the health of the female reproductive system is a gynecologist. The reason the jobs are combined is because they’re both all about women. Obstetricians and Gynecologists are physicians who provide general medical care to women. They equip medical care associated with pregnancy or childbirth, and they diagnose, treat, and help prevent diseases, especially those affecting the female
The Partners for Pearland scholarship would have a ginormous impact on my education. My Mother and Father are currently separated and I live with my Father. I will be very difficult for him to help me pay or my education. While I am in college I will be looking for a job that will give me some good hours to work around my classes and school work. If I receive this scholarship it will lift some of the weight off of my shoulders and also my father’s shoulders. My mother will also try to help with school payments but she doesn’t keep a job very well. I will depend on my job and I there is no other way then I will have no choice but to take out student loans. That is the last thing I want to do. I know I am probably not as qualified as most of
