Recommended: Issue concerning war against drugs

According to Jorge Chabat, illegal drugs threaten the Mexican governance because of the corruption they generate. The Mexican government has been unsuccessfully trying to fight this threat for years in a context of institutional weakness. The fact that Mexico is a natural supplier of illegal drugs to the biggest market in the world, the United States, puts the Mexican government in a very complex situation with no alternatives other than to continue fighting drugs with very limited institutional and human resources (Chabat, 2002, p.134). In this process, Mexico has no margin for maneuver to change the parameters of the war on drugs. So what are they to do to try to fix this seemingly endless problem? The Zetas operate in a new militant structure associated with a higher brand of violence, which has led it to branch out beyond a traditional drug smuggling enterprise common under the PRI government. Simply put, the electoral defeat of the PRI in 2000 was supposed to usher in a more democratic era in Mexican politics. Instead, the PRI party’s defeat created a state of chaos that gave rise to inter-cartel violence and the birth of the Zetas cartel.

There are far more serious deviant acts than dressing from the wrong decade; they are also heavily tied to the law. Laws are more inflexible than behaviors of changing times. They are intact from the idea that if caught participating in such acts you could face serious punishment and rightfully so.
