Do people really need to be in a group or live a normal life? “The Boy Who Lost His Face” is written by Louis Sachar. The Boy Who Lost His Face is about a boy who stole an elderly woman’s cane, and it was banned, but I do not believe that it should be banned. The book is young children literature.
The book is about a boy named David who is trying to be in a group of cool kids so he has to steal a cane. He steals the cane but is not accepted into the group. He becomes an outcast and he is picked on. He chooses to fight to get the cane back and his dignity. He gets his friends and his little brother to help him fight against Roger and his gang.“Your Doppelganger will regurgitate your soul!” The elderly woman was saying that
as David and the other kids took her cane and ran off with it. He tries to become a better person and get the cane back from Roger’s gang. David, his brother, and a few of his friends are going to get the cane back from roger. Not knowing what lies ahead for David, he is willing to be physically pulverised to retrieve a cane. This book “also considers friendship and responsibility”says the Banned Book Database. The book being banned it is still interesting to those who chose to read they book. The book revolves around the old woman and the cane that Roger, Randy and David then steal. She is claimed to be a witch by all the kids in the neighborhood and she “curses” David for taking her cane. The elderly woman's name is Mrs. Bayfield. David decides to “fight for his dignity, and, with his friends and little brother by his side he goes to face rogers gang.”According to banned books database. David had eventually come to realize he didn’t really hate Mrs.Bayfield he liked her, he thought she was a nice elderly woman. After David, Randy, and Roger steal her cane but David is rejected to the “cool” group of kids and find himself being picked on. “David falls off his desk,walks into class with his zipper unzipped, and his only friends are fellow outcasts.” According to Banned Books Database. He tries to be tranquil but he keeps having the same problem Roger and his friends. David feels staid that he can’t do anything to make it better and he is being called names all the time in school. The book contains mild profanity, bullying, and obscene gestures. Randy and the gang are bad often because they think they are cool but there being quiet mean and they hurt people. David is emotionally hurt because he isn’t accepted into the group and he is picked on. The Boy with no Face is still banned in schools. The book gives a good perspective that gang involvement is bad and what not to do if your like David if you're in the same situation as him. The Boy with no Face is still a good book. This book is thrilling and amazingly good to show that friendship is better than a gang. I find this book should not be banned from schools it is educational and helps guide you through if you're in that situation. We all do deserve to live a normal life like David we don’t need to be part of a group just to be cool we can live a normal life.
After finishing the book, this book should not be in the banned books. This book has strong language for a younger child to read. it shows what can happen to teenagers, what students will do with drugs, and it has a strong message for older teens. For younger readers, this book carries very strong language but it has a strong message. One of those is that it shows what students will do with drugs.

These school boards and parents can claim that banning this classic will protect their children from these subjects and these thoughts, and that by doing so, they can create the world to be a perfect place with love and harmony. The religious can claim all the righteousness they want, that God made the civilized man and that without religion, we wouldn’t be where we are today. However, the true nature of these subjects isn’t in that they exist, but the fact that we simply just don’t want to think or admit that they exist within ourselves. We need to use this book as a textbook to life, or a sort of guiding hand that tells us we need to realize that without our civilizations and without our rules, the world would be a much ruthless place than it is today.

Censorship, defined as the act of destroying, suppressing or withholding information otherwise intended for the public, is detrimental to the community in a number of ways and has no place in a democratic society. Firstly it is detrimental to the progression of social ethics, morals and ideals and limits diversity in society while prolonging ignorance. Secondly it is a breach of freedom of expression, free speech and the free press. It will be demonstrated in this essay that censorship does happen in Australia, that it is not beneficial to society, and that it should be replaced with a system of management where members of the public will always have a choice as to whether or not they can view material intended for the public.
The idea of freedom can be seen throughout Collection 2 in our textbook. Freedom can be seen in the short story “The Censors” by Luisa Valenzuela when it talks about the freedom of speech. Addition to that, an article “A People’s History Of The 1963 March On Washington” by Charles Euchner shows freedom in its article when it talks about the segregation occurring to colored men. Lastly, freedom is shown in the graphic novel “Persepolis 2: The Story Of A Return” by Marjane Satrapi as it shows high restriction.

Lincoln knew well the potential dangers of expression, having steered the Union through the bitterly divisive Civil War, but he held the Constitution dear enough to protect its promises whenever possible (8).

The process of censorship in school libraries often begins with an outspoken parent, teacher, student, or administrator and ends in the banning or abridgement of a novel deemed inadmissible. Censorship is protecting many students from controversial, immoral, and potentially unsuitable content; however, this is not always the case. Students, parents, teachers, and administrators with different backgrounds, beliefs, and morals are not creating a library pleasing to everyone because of the variety of opinion. Censorship in school is not justifiable, because it restricts discussion and knowledge of new, controversial, and necessary ideas, allows a handful of people to make decisions for a larger group based on opinion, and undermines democratic ideals.
Censorship in Schools There has recently been a renewed interest and passion in the issue of censorship. In the realm of the censorship of books in schools alone, several hundred cases have surfaced each year for nearly the past decade. Controversies over which books to include in the high school English curriculum present a clash of values between teachers, school systems, and parents over what is appropriate for and meaningful to students. It is important to strike a balance between English that is meaningful to students by relating to their lives and representing diversity and satisfying worries about the appropriateness of what is read.
Censorship in American High Schools Book banning has a long history and has made both positive and negative impact on readers. People have been trying to stop books from being banned, but there are also people that are trying to ban books to protect their children. Many books have been challenged and even banned because of the “inappropriate” content the books contain, such as profanity. Books have started to get censored since the 1500’s and has threatened many cultures. The people who ban and censor books think that they are protecting the readers from the information, but it is secluding the readers from getting more ideas.
