The aim of this paper is to observe the harmful effects of cell phones by closely evaluating the many negative consequences of their use in schools. It will study some of the most widely concerned topics of cellphone use in school including cheating, cyberbullying, and sexting. Cell phones first appeared in the 1980’s, and were marketed toward the upper-class. At first consumer demands of cell phones were slow to catch on, but gradually grew in popularity. Since their introduction, almost every aspect of the cell phone has been continually improved and advanced, predictably in part due to Moore’s law which states, “The number of transistors used in an integrated circuit doubles every year”. High demand and improving technology have forced cell phones to the forefront of modern technological precedent. This feat can undeniably be considered a marvel of modern society. In the pockets of a majority of students attending high school today there is a cell phone, hidden away from prying eyes; it has access to all the information mankind has to offer and more including various forms of social networking and communication. Cell phones are tools that are used for efficiency of everyday life as well as convenience and also have a great potential in the educational field. Evidence supporting the theory that cell phones are used purely for productivity and efficiency could not be found without first discovering how they can be used adversely, especially in the hands of mischievous high school students. With the popular emergence of cell phones with internet capabilities and large amounts of digital space, educational opportunities seem to be at a peak and with these advantages in education also come disadvantages which could pose a ris... ... middle of paper ... ... in part to their negative consequences on education and their potentially dangerous effects on high school students’ personal lives. ” Carr uses this example to provide evidence of how smartphones pose as a distraction and interrupt students from their work. Carr also uses “nearly a hundred secondary schools.” This example is used so readers can grasp the large amount of schools that are involved in the issue. Lastly Carr uses “The subjects whose phones were in view posted the worst scores, while those who left their phones in a different room did the best.”

Over the past few years, technology has grown to be the driving force in human productivity and efficiency. Technology has been incorporated into our everyday lives to help us perform daily activities and bridge long distance communication. Although technology has brought us many advantages, it has also created quite few ethical issues along the way. Some of the biggest ethical issues technology has created revolve around cell phones. These issues include cell phone tracking and using the cell phone to cheat. Cell phone privacy can be compromised in many situations regarding phone call tracking and messaging. Cell phone use is also starting to be abused by students and other test takers to cheat on tests. Even if the person has good moral standards, sometimes the right decision to make is not always clear.
Have you ever heard of the gruesome Columbine High School massacre? This incident occurred on April 20th 1999 and involved two students embarking on a shooting rampage, killing twelve students, a teacher and wounding twenty three others. Unfortunately during this incident, the school's most easily accessible phone was on the other side of the school in the library. Perhaps some of these lives could have been saved if the students in this class had cell phones that they could've used to contact the authorities more quickly. The issue we are addressing today is the use of cellular devices in educational facilities. I believe that cell phone use is of extreme convenience, and has academically beneficial aspects, among it's so called "faults".
Teachers are finding it harder and harder to separate a student from their cell phones for eight hours. Cellular devices and social media have become a number one priority for many people across the world. Due to the fact that the student will not put down their phones during school hours, their grades tend to be lower, which could, in the long run, affect their chances of getting into college. The use of cell phones does not strictly affect younger generations, it also had major influence on adults at the

Cell phones should be permitted in schools, because they can be very beneficial and practical in schools. Cell phones can be a life-saver in the case of an emergency. In New York, a violent incident has taken place. Fortunately, timely communication from a student using a cell phone saved a man who desperately needed medical attention (“Cell Phones in the Classroom”). Another student has assisted the police in arresting the suspect by giving timely updates of the criminal scene using a cell phone during the school lockdown.
In conclusion, this essay has tried to argue that cell phones are valuable tools in schools. Many of us see cell phone pessimistically but really haven’t looked at them optimistically. We all know that "with every good, comes a bad, and with responsibilities, come consequences". By all means allowing cell phones in schools is a great idea, and students should start to learn the positive features of that new device. Overall, this essay has attempted to show that allowing cell phones in schools is not a bad idea.
The facts that have been stated in this research paper show enough facts that cell phone use has a great effect on young people’s lives. Sooner or later, the use of cell phones may become a major problem in school, so parents need to regulate all use of cell phones. Works Cited Cassel, David. The. Today’s cell phone is the front line technology at our fingertips. Keeping this in mind the use of cell phones have become an affair when it comes to allowing teens to use them in educational environments, such as schools. One part of society supports the use of cell phones while the other part of society disapproves the use of cell phones. I personally believe that cell phones should not only be allowed in school, but cell phones should be mandatory just like a textbook. Cell phones do not only allow students to stay united with friends and family, but cell phones are also a magnificent learning system, and they boost the liable use of technology.
The first reason to support that mobile phones should be banned in schools is that devices can be used to cheating for instance, text friends about answers during a test, take picture of test questions with mobile phones to send to friends, search the internet to answers during a test, and store information on mobile phones to look at during a test. It is suggested by Benenson Strategy Group (2008) indicated that 65 per c...
Mobile phones are undeniable today. Almost everybody has a mobile phone. Formerly, it only functioned as a portable mean of communication. The function of a mobile phone has developed into entertainment. Furthermore, mobile phone has also come into the schools. However, it has both positive and negative effect on students. This essay argues that mobile phones will bring more negative than positive effect for students. Of course, students use it as a mean of communication and sometimes for an emergency call if they need it. Yet, they would use their mobile phones for both bullying and cheating. Also, mobile phones will make students lost concentration during their study.
First of all, students absolutely should not be permitted to use cell phones during school hours because it is a distraction to other students. This is an issue that plays a huge role on student’s lives because it takes away from their academic education. The s...
